Birds procreate the same way most creatures do. I call it doing the "wild thing" ~ when the timing is right (usually the female makes soft cooing noises & the male makes soft chirping sounds) the male will mount the back of the female. They move their body parts into position and give it a go. If things take (depending on the species of bird) a fertile egg will be laid and a chick hatched. All female birds are born with all the eggs (cells) she has the capacity to lay in her lifetime.
A solitary bird will also satisfy itself without a mate. Those sounds I mentioned above will ususally be made by the mature bird while it is in the heat of the moment. Because their behavior is cyclcle, a caged bird will sometimes try to feed a non-specific element to satisfy what it would do in nature at a time when it would normally be in it's breeding cycle. Well done nature!

Yes, birds have sex. The male mounts the female and the copulation lasts a few seconds at best. I am glad I'm not a bird.LOL. Even though there were times, I was treated like one. Have a tweet new year.
