He was my bestfreind, then after we started dating and fell inlove all my faults came out. I know they are needy, and i try and meet half way with Him. He is also on the verge to abusing me. He has hit me once, pushed me around, and called me some pretty mean things. But i love Him so much. i really dont know what to do. Should we call it quits or keep trying?

If he hits you once, walk!!!! Take my advice. It will happen again and I think you know that. Get out of it now because it will only get worse, more often and harder for you and him. You have to show him that he is WRONG.

You could get into couples therapy, however, if he is abusing you then you may want to consider getting out now while you can and you are not physically beaten, making you afraid to do otherwise. If it was not for the physicality of this situation, I would say to reconnect and spend time together doing fun things or out of the ordinary things. Think what is best for you and the rest will follow, sounds like you have the solution but you're hesitant- you deserve the best. good luck

Call the police, a couple of nights in jail... he'll get the hint.
Or you can do like Ma'Dear did on Tyler Perry's "Ma'Dear's Family Reunion"
(Serena and Venus) Throw hot oatmeal on him and side swipe his head with an iron skillet!

Despite any of your "faults", it is no excuse for violence or abusive behavior.

Love YOURSELF enough to get away from the situation, if he values you he will get some help and perspective and treat you with more care and respect.

What the reason he hit you? Did he feel regret afterward? if you feel that you love him stil and he worth you to do stay for him...then i think why not give both a chance? but only if he still has feeling for you...else i think you should just give up...
