I'll stick with XP over Vista.
And, no, no sane person is going to run Linux. They're going to try Ubuntu, see that it is stupid (no OOB proprietary codecs? wtf), and stay with Windows or OS X.

Windows Vista is flashy but not for me. I have alot of PIII computers down here and none of em will work with Vista (which requires 800MHz and 512MB to run just the bare minimum). I love Windows XP, which has proven to be the most stable Windows OS for me. XP supports my MP3 player, works well with my wired and wireless networks, and runs my office apps. For me, that's all I need. I guess it depends on the individual user. Vista will be great for some people but maybe not as much for others.

Well I think people are going to have fun trying to figure out what version to buy!!! 5 versions, that would make anyones head spin! If you buy a Mac, one OS will do as little or as much you want. Oh yah, it's one price for OS-X too! About half the price of the upgrade for the M$ OS! What happens when someone desides he or she bought the wrong version? Do you have to go buy another version? Is there a time period to exchange it for the right one? Oh by the way there are two versions of Mac OS-X! The server version and the one for everyone that's not running a server!

What you have to understand is that the market drives products. Sure Windows XP is fine for now, but how technologically inept will it be 2 or 3 years from now? You're thinking from your own perspective and not really from that of the average end user. It's all basically what appeals to the average end user and what they need.
Sure Windows XP works fine for me, but in my position I have to look at migrating to Windows Vista sooner or later.
