I made up my mind to get some anti-depressants today. But I have some questions. Currently I am 16 years old and do you need to be 18 or 21 to purchase antidepressants? Do you also need permission from a doctor? I don't want to tell my parents (especially my dad) that I have been suffering with depression since I was 14. My dad would look at me differently when I confess (I know for sure). He thinks depressed people just want attention. I actually don't. I just want to enjoy life and stop worrying and being depressed. Thats why I want to buy anti-depresasants without telling my parents. I really need to get some medication for this aniexty/depression problem. I can't enjoy life constantly worrying about this girl, school, work, debts, etc. I know what my problems are and I don't need therapy

Oh, I'm so sorry you are feeling this way at your young age and you need to see a doctor so he can decide whether you need a true antidepressant or an antianxiety medication or both.

You can call the crisis hotline in your city, every city has one, the call is confidential- you ask for the mental health counselor- he/she will then talk to you for awhile and will then either give you the phone number or make the appointment for you to see the psychiatrist/doctor. These are free clinics and your appointment will be STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL. No paperwork will be sent to your home, they cannot tell your parents. Hopefully, he will be able to give you FREE samples of the medications that you need. Your very smart for your age to realize that you are suffering from depression and that you are strong enough to deal with it for this long (2 years is a long time without medication). Tell the doctor EVERYTHING that has made you depressed and really do not hold back your emotions to him because he needs to know everything in order to make the right diagnosis and prescribe the right medication........I too suffer from depression and I am bipolar--- I would not be alive without my medications. God bless you for being strong enough to do this without your parents-- have a very happy new year and I know you will because you will get the help you need---- IM me if you need to talk.

You can get prescriptions at any age - even as an infant - but I'm pretty sure that in most states a doctor will be required to either get permission from and/or notify your parents.

Depression is nothing to be ashamed about, but some parents don't always get it, but if you think you have otherwise helpful parents, then tell them - they probably sense something is wrong and would love some guidance as to what it is and would be more than willing to help. You won't be disappointing them.

If you're still worried, ask your school nurse - or even call anonymously to ask her - and she should tell you what the laws are where you live, or if you have any alternatives.

Good luck!

i'm specific your wellness care expert will comprehend your hesitancy to apply an animal product. even inspite of the shown fact that, there's a caveat you’ll would desire to settle for: sufferers who've tried taking man made T4/T3 (non-animal/pig thyroid meds) record they only didn’t get the impressive consequences they have been given while they tried desiccated organic thyroid, which incorporates precisely what your guy or woman thyroid could be generating: T4, T3, T2, T1 and calcitonin. Many orthodox and conservative Jews of course could have a similar concern with something it somewhat is derived from a pig. in line with risk the words of an orthodox rabbi (Silverman) can assist you. He reported that if certainly Armour is unique and required to shop a existence or recommendations (and it somewhat is unquestionably a different drugs that works!), he would desire to make certain 2 tactics that it may be high-quality to take Armour. First, it may well be swallowed and not taken sublingually. this form it doesn’t violate the nutritional rules. 2d, whether it somewhat is mandatory for saving a existence/recommendations, this continuously takes priority. He mentioned to talk this over including your guy or woman rabbinical government, yet he mentioned he’d be happy to talk with any Jewish people who're worried approximately this. i comprehend that unlike you, Orthodox and Conservative Jews consume kosher meat, however the assumption of ingesting something derived from a pig is as vile to them as ingesting meat products is to you.

Whats going on? You would have had to seen a Dr.
Not cheap!,So your parents must know. You usually need to see a regular Dr. to refer you to see a psychiatrist.
A psychiatrist usually prescribes anti-depressants,only after talking to your parents. Anti-depressants are not cheap either!
Good luck,i wish you the best but your parents are gonna find out anyway!
