For example if I breathe onto my hand the air feels hot whereas if I blow onto my hand it feels cool. I think it might be similar to getting a cold draught when a door is closed but not feeling it when it is open.

Oh yeah, good point Dale about blowing air into cupped hands being warm. I never was good at science-type subjects!

Your body warms the air as you inhale and thus it is warm as you exhale but if you blow out the air its dissipated as it hits your hand. Blow into you two hands when together forming bowl and you will feel that it is still warm.

It is your skin that feels the difference, in reality if you blow out air or breath out air, the temperature is the same. It is just like the wind outside, in a hot day with temperature of 30 Celsius, if its windy your skin won't feel as hot and you will like the weather but if there is no wind then your skin will feel hot, even though the temperature will be the same in both conditions.
Its the sense of your skin and your skin keeps a warm layer on top of your skin, the faster you will blow, the layer will disappear and you will think the air your blowing is cold, when its actually your skin's sense not the air.
I hope this make sense to you. I read this in my biology book.

I guess it's because when you blow out the air has just been drawn in and ejected almost immediately. Where as when you breathe out it has previously been inside your Lungs, and got nice and warm.....NO?

'cause it's been in your warm body.

If you blow, that is high pressure. There is basically more air cominng out. A higher volume of air takes longer to heat.

Thing of your body temp. (About 98.6 degrees F or somewhere around there). Then think about the temp of the surrounding air. The surrouning air is anywhere from 30-10 degrees cooler, so when you inhale it feels cool, but when you exhale the air is warmer because it has been in your lungs, which are about the temp. of your body. Make sense?

when you blow it puts the air under pressure, hence making it cooler as it leaves the body at an faster velocity, like a fan setting one does'nt cool you as quickly as setting three.

The air you breath in is not at your body temperture intill you breath it out, because it has not yet been in you warm lungs.
