Yes:
Tools/Options/General tab
change the font there and then click OK

Yes, Click Tools, then Options. Choose General Tab.
Change the setting of the Standard Font to Courier and the font size to 8pt. Then click OK.
The new setting will take effect after you quit and restart MS Excel.

Click on Format | Font. There should be an option to "Set As Default"
