I love my parents, and we live hundreds of miles apart. I'm 42 and happily married with three kids. Inevitably during the holidays we stay at their house or vice versa. Three days is about my limit. Beyond that I start to feel insane. What's yours?

I go insane after about an hour or so at their house because my mom is so unorganized in her cooking and expects me to help her. Drives me nuts. My dad is difficult to talk to (for anybody because he tells these really long stories and goes off on all kinds of tangents). In my house, I can tolerate them for a day or so as long as I can stay in the kitchen while my family keeps them company. I'm 46 and a counselor!!

My parents have both died ,it sucks to be an orphan. My father was rather difficult;he was 53 when I finished high school. Younger,it was hard to understand him. I am now his age and realize that the world can box you into a place you never should have been. He was a child of the depression. For them responsibility always outweighed personal gratification. Mother
was the warmest most inciteful person I have ever known. I miss her every day and would trade the last 10 of the 4 score
years I'm probably alloted to have another year with her.

My parents are both gone but I could enjoy their company for quite a long time. My husband would not last more than a day in his mother's company.

In my house I can stand it about 3 days, in my mothers house overnight is enough. Funny, but I still miss her and look forward to visits. But have gotten to the point that when visiting her we stay in a hotel.

About the same. I prefer to be at my own home with my husband.
