If i were to do at least 50 pushups for a whole year from jan 1 to dec 31 , what should happen in theory? that comes to about 18,250 combined pushups.

depending on your level of physical fitness, results will vary...

once your body is conditioned to that exercise you will no longer see results as the "load" hasn't increased and your muscles have no reason to continue to adapt and grow stronger and/or larger...

Your arm and upper body strength will be much more, but your abs and obliques will not be that strong. Also, you will not have strong lets. In other words, you will end up looking like Popeye, and no that is not a good thing. OF COURSE it is good to do push-ups, but try to do sit-ups and squats or lunges as well. Also, run a little, because if you have all that muscle and get tired in 30 seconds, it will all be just looks. You have to balance your workout, unless of course, you are training for an arm wrestling championship. If that's the case, stick to just push-ups.

you will be good and strong in the shoulder area, this should also help with you chest too and probally your feet as your weight will be on the tips of your toes, it should put you in decent shape but you may need to do other excerises too to look balanced,.
