This question is for my mother. She has two small dogs (adult and male) who have been neutered. She keeps them outside for most of the time because they keep peeing in the house. They know how to tell her when there is no food or water for them in their bowl, but they don't know to how to warn her about going outside to pee. Any suggestions?

You can teach a dog not to pee in the house no matter the age. What you need to do is take them outside every 30 minutes or so so they dont have the chance to pee in the house because they go out so often.. Then they will get so used to going outside they will feel weird not going in the grass outside. The hard part is being consistent... It may take a whole week of every 30 minutes but it will work. It is a pain in the A$$ but if you want the dogs to go outside it will work.. CONSISTENCY!

Also....Clean and deodorize the carpet so they don't smell their old pee..

Good Luck.

I have heard that is it very hard to train smaller dogs to go outside but here are a few things that worked for my dog

If they are using a certain area as a potty try feeding them there put there bowl of food and or water in that room and that should stop them a dog will not poop or pee where it eats

also dont let them watch you clean the mess if they see her cleaning it they will start to think its ok to do it because mom is going to clean it up anyway so put them in another room while you clean it and then spray a doggy deoderizer on the spot

hope that helps

First go to Petsmart or a pet store and buy a special product that you wipe the floor with that removes the odor from the floor so that the dogs don't still smell it. Dogs will continue to pee in the same spots even if you have cleaned it up with your own cleaning products. You may not smell it, but they know where they marked. I think its called "Natures Miracle" in a white bottle.

Second, as soon as the dog is done eating, take it for a walk or put it outside. They will go right after they eat.

Kennel them when they are in the house.
I have a small dog and a medium sized dog. My little terrier hates to go out to pee if it's rainy or wet or snowing. I literally have to stand outside with her and tell her to pee or she will have an accident in the house. Get to know the dogs and love them and they will be good for you.

Dogs and cats do that after they have been neutered. Keep them in a small space and put newspaper down and keep their food in the same area. Animals don't like to "go" near their food. Eventually they will learn that they have to "ask" to go out.

Leave them outside. When dogs reach this age nothing keeps them from peeing in the house.

well my friend had the same problem and they just put the dogs in a cage and when they got home they let him out and took him outside to go to the bathroom and then they brought him inside again and praised him if he didn't pee in the cage and went outside instead.

ok...when u take the dog out....when u get to the door....say "potty" to the dog.....repeat it a couple of times....(lets them know what it means by going to the door)....then go outside with them and when u see them usin the bathroom look at them and repeat the word "potty" again(letting them know that what they r doin is called potty....then give them a treat AS SOON as they r done(do that for about a couple of weeks).......if they potty and the house.....and u don't see the pee until after they do it...don't spank them b/c that makes them think that the last thing they did was wrong.....try to catch them in the act.....tap their butt and point at them and say no!!!!....that way they know it is wrong....

I have Ridgeback and taught her to use very large potty box. I stood and kept repeating the word "potty" until she got the idea. Also take the dogs to a training class. Good Luck

Two Dogs was a great troll.

When I don't want him peeing in my house, I just call the cops and have him arrested.

As far as your mother and her dogs, I recommend she sell the house and leave the dogs behind.
