she wants to feel like you still need her. maybe you could try to show her that you do by asking her to do things with you once in awhile.

If your 43 and your mom is still doing your laundry than that is saying that you still live at home? If this is the case, then maybe she does your laundry because she feels you are still a dependent to her. Maybe you need to offer to do more things around the house, including your own laundry. Paying your mom some rent or buying the groceries. But at your age, I think you should be finding your own place to live. Stop depending on mom.

Hope you are not still living with your mother. Because if you are, then you should be doing your own laundry. Guess you need to let her know that you are capable of doing those kinds of things and you are not helpless.

It could be that she hasn't let go of you yet even if you are still living with her in the same house.

You may consider on getting out on your own. She can always make you baked pies instead of doing your laundry! (smile)
