hi. This doesn't seem very severe. The only thing I'd be concerned at this point would be the danger of having tonsillitis. So do you have difficulties swallowing, or feel pain while swallowing? Does it hurt when you try to make a sound, try to speak? If these are all negative, probably it will wear off after a while. But if you do have the above asked symptoms, see a doctor again, you do not want to have problems with your voice later or heart problems due to untreated tonsillitis. As for remedies, there is hot potato mash in a cloth to be put around your neck, this works somehow to 'pull' out the infection. You can also inhale camomille, or crysanthemum, get lots of warm flluids, eat lots of green veggies, fruits, but nothing to acidous to avoid irritatation of your throat and tonsils. I always like to have lots of fresh carrot and apple juice with honey. Take vitamin C, garlic etc to boost your immune system. Get some tiger balm or similar thing to have someone rub your chest (front and back until it gets red). Avoid anything cold, alcohol, spicy dishes. If you can get chinese herbs, use Bohe, Chuanbei, Banlangen. Ask in China town or some pharmacies have herbs.

Unfortunately, there is no cure for a cold or for most viral upper respiratory infections. You just have to wait it out with time, rest, and fluids. Here's what will help while you're waiting it out, though, and may help your voice:

1. Gargle with warm salt water (put a little salt in a glassful of warm water).

2. Get plenty of rest.

3. Drink plenty of non-caffeinated fluids - water, fruit juices, ginger ale, herbal teas, decaffeinated tea, Sprite, you name it. Popsicles count too, if you like those.

4. Sucking on hard candies or Luden's drops may help with the cough and your voice.

5. Above all else, give it time. I know it's hard - I've been there - but these things take a bit.

Good luck to you! This is based on a lot of reading as well as my own experiences over the years, and I was an amateur singer for a long while, so I understand the frustration of losing your voice to a cold. Hang in there!

There's no cure for a cold, but you can shorten its duration. Try taking vitamin C and zinc. Drink lots of cold water. Use a humidifier to add moisture to the air. The moisture will help congestion and help your throat feel better
