I work in an orange grove and we are over run with wild hogs and my trusty 243 in in charge of thinning out the population. I usually shoot winchester 100 grain power point bullets, you can get them from walmart for $13.57 a box. I have had excellent results with these on hogs from 50 to 350 pounds out to 200 yards. I always aim about an inch below the ear and a little behind the jaw this gives a perfect neck shot dropping him in his tracks. I have close to 100 kills with this ammo and have never had one take more than a step. Also try federal fusion 95 grain boat tail soft point, they were slightly more accurate out of my rifle and seem to create a slightly larger wound channel they will run you about $17.99 per box. I hope this has helped and have fun out there!

The .243 is a bit light for the really big pigs. Stick to head shots with at least a 100 grain quality hunting bullet & you should be okay.

Pick some ammo with expansion combined with a lot of penetration. Hogs are tough animals and the .243 will do the job with quality ammo. Find something with a Nosler Partition or Fail Safe bullet loaded in it and you will not go wrong. I can smell the sausage already.

Expansion won't be your problem. In the old days when Nosler Partitions were too expensive for me and nobody else was making premium bullets I had lots of problems with my 6mm blowing bullets up on surface wounds. I wound up using Hornady round-noses to get something to set up and penetrate. Now, there are plenty of good premium bullets, but the Partition is still hard to beat, and its price is quite reasonable for an adult.

no thats probably the best, but really you want one that expands the least, because there bones are so thick you need a good penetrating bullet if you hope to kill it
