what time of the year do budgies to mate?

I have a female & male budgie that have mated. What time of the year will they mate? do they mate all year round? only in the spring?

Budgies can really mate anytime, so it's best to always be careful and take precautions to avoid it. Make sure your budgies always have 12 hours of darkness. You don't want to have anything resembling a nestbox in the cage with them. You may want to keep your genders separated if you notice any types of mating activities going on.

They dont mate all year round. Some may start breeding in november, but the perfect and most apropiate season for the budgies is in spring around april. Of course, every budgie is different and the time in which they mate can variate, my budgies had done that to me, freaking me out when they started to put eggs in late summer! But let them choose their time, because they will know when they want to mate.

Budgies tend to mate in late March or early April. They tend to like to mate in early spring rather than later on.THis is from my experience with my budgies.

I dont think there is a season that they mate in, I think it just depends on when they are in the mood.
