Well, I've never heard that it's good to eat five meals, but I can tell you this: the last meal of the day, be it your third or your fifth, should be the smallest, as you're not active at night to burn off the calories. Your snacks should come as near to midway between breakfast and lunch as possible, and should be something small and healthy to get you through the day. Also, to get 'buff,' you need to keep lifting weights, but make sure you're not over-doing it in any one area (legs, chest, etc.). For building abs, I'd recommend doing side-bends with the weights, which is very simply putting the weights on your shoulders and rotating over your hips (taking great care to keep your back straight).
But really, if you want to lose weight, cardio is a must. It burns more of the fat than lifting ever could. It doesn't even necessarily mean running. I hate running, too. I bike. Try something like that. Swimming is the best, though...
happy trails.
