He is doing this for attention. He needs more access to the outdoors. First thing to do is have a Doggie-flap put on the door so he can go outside. Second thing to do is turn on a radio for him when ye are gone and he is all alone.
This WILL work. I guarntee it will. The reason he started doing this is (like i said) for attention. He feels lonely when he is left alone. I bet he doesnt do anything like this when you are home!!!
This proves my point.

Perhaps the dog feels abandoned. I suggest a doggy day care (these do exist) or having a friend "baby-sit." Try to stay home more often. And by the way, Heather S, you NEVER do that to an animal. This dog may also be experiencing trauma or a medical symptom. My cat has begun to urinate everywhere, but I believe it is because she is nearing very old age. The dog may even just have drank too much water while you were gone, which may be a symptom of mouth dryness, which could be a variety of things. I hope that this helps.

Well, first check to see if there is a medical problem with him. If he has worms , or a bladder infection. Second if not a medical problem, clean the carpet or floor area where hes going with white vinegar. next close those rooms off when you leave. If you catch him going then take him to the spot tell him no and take him outside. You can also get a kennel and put him in the kennel while your gone.

Put them outside every 10 minutes or so for about 2 hours. I know its a pain in the *** but then you can tell when your dog has to go and you can get them out when they give you the heads up before they do it in the house

Ok things that need to be considered, Is he scent marking eg cocking his leg? If so what has changed in your house or family structure? often a new arrival or visitors can set animals off into weird behaviour. Or is it medical, has your dog developed incontinece or have a urinary tract infection/kidney disease/diabetes/ cushings disease or anyother medical condition that can cause animals to need to pee right here right now. Perhaps go to the vet and have his urine tested and possibly a blood test to rule out medical problems

Have you taken him to the vet? It may be that he is sick. Other wise, he may have experience some type of emotional trauma and he is trying to communicate his feelings.
