I postponed my jury duty date to Jan 1, 2007 (today), but all of the courts are closed today. So should I show up tomorrow, or am I off the hook due to a technicality?

Call the court first thing tomorrow morning and find out if your jury panel is needed. Because your day falls on a holiday does not get you off the hook. Generally, you will be wanted the next day. That is why you need to call in first thing. If your court is on line, you might be able to get instructions at the court web site.

Look on the back of the jury summons paperwork that you received.

There is usually a phone number to call 24 hrs a day which has a taped message for prospective jurors for circumstances just like this.

Calling tomorrow will probably be too late unless you happen to live across the street from the court house.

Yes, show up. The time to ask was last week, so you might not be used because of the scheduling on a holiday but you don't want to risk the penalty.

Previous answer suggested calling clerk or courts 24 hour message line (if there is one where your at), do that just on off chance you may have an out.

Just say that you wouldn't pee on a cop if he was on fire, and you'll NEVER have to do jury duty, worked for me.
