John 2:1-12 Jesus's first miracle was to turn water into fine wine.
Mark 7:14 Jesus states that what you put into your body cannot defile you but it is what comes out of your mouth that defiles you.
Considering these things why is it that Christians say that drinking alcohol and consuming marijuana are sins?
Recent studies have shown Marijuana to be helpful in delaying the onset of Alzheimers.
See:http://www.scripps.edu/news/press/080906.html
And many states have legalized it to be prescribed by a doctor for many health issues including depression.
And we all know the Cardiovascular benefits of a glass of wine.
If God created the universe and everything in it then he created those things as well and since in moderation both things have been shown beneficial to the health.
Why would you call that a sin?

Ok alcohol is addicting but I think there is sufficient evidence that marijuana is not. Of course some people will become emotionally dependant on it but then again I've seen people start shaking when they couldn't go for their daily jog for a day or two. People will become addicted to anything and replace one addiction witha another so why single out a particular thing? Is it that you don't like the people who are traditionally using it?

If God is perfect then everything that he creates is perfect. If the creation was perfect, including pot and alcohol, and the effects are perfect, then it is probable that in God's infinite and perfect wisdom, he knew that man would need things to help him occasionally relax and forget the complicated stresses of daily life. If man consumes these substances in faith and does not sin in breaking the commandments and is rejoicing in the Lord, then there is no sin and therefore anyone that says there is, is passing judgment and is endangered of hell fire, for judgment not lest ye be judged. For in the judgment ye have used, so shall you be judged. However the caveat to this is that if you consume these substances in the presence of the another person who does not see them as clean and so cause that person to pass judgment, you have caused him to sin and therefore have sinned. Pretty deep huh?

Gee I sure wish people would get their facts straight before making assumptions that ALL Christians' say such things.
Scripture never states that drinking wine is a sin. Scripture says that all things have been created for good but that all are NOT NECESSARILY BENEFICIAL FOR EDIFICATION. This means that you may indeed drink wine, but that you may NOT abuse it.
Most reasonable Christians, I would hope, would agree that marijuana in and of itself is not sinful, but that by consuming it, you are breaking the law in most states and provinces last I checked - which IS a sin.
The fact that many states and provinces have decriminalized possession of it does not make it legal to consume it. The fact that some states have authorized doctors to prescribe it also does not make it legal for anyone to have it or consume it.
Contrary to what you may think, I am neither for or against the consumption of alcohol or marijuana - but I do have a problem with people taking advantage, twisting words, over using and abusing such things. Also - whether the laws of marijuana use are right or wrong - they are laws and we must obey the laws of the land - which is also biblical.

"On the other hand, before one becomes a Christian witness to Jehovah, they know exactly what is taught and where from the Bible it is taught. They do not blindly believe what is being taught. They make a choice to follow what the Bible teaches or not to. It is a decision based on knowledge rather than emotion." There is no possible way you could embrace Jehovah Witness theology if it were not for the teaching of the pastoral leaders of the Watchtower. You're accusing other Christians (the one's that are "part of Christendom") of the very thing you are guilty of. Regarding Trinitarianism... it was established as Christian dogma with the formalization of the creed at the council of Nicea (325 AD)..... Nearly a century before the canon of scripture was formalized at Carthage and Hippo.. In other words before Christianity had a Bible they had a Trinitarian Creed. If the "post-Constantine" church was apostate... then the Bible derives it's existence from that same apostate source.

I don't consider alcohol consumption a sin, and most Christians do not.
Marijuana is not something I consider immoral of itself, but because it is illegal, the moral issue becomes one of breaking the law. Also, the distribution of marijuana is frought with its own evils.
The issue of alcoholism and addiction is a diversion. These are diseases, not caused by consumption of a substance, but by the way particular bodies react to them. One does not "become" an alcoholic. Most alcoholics find themselves addicted from the start, and recognize behavior patterns that existed prior to taking the first drink. Consuming alcohol does not make an alcoholic. The unbridled consumption of alcohol is a symptom rather than a cause.

The real issue is the abuse of these substances. I don't know if Marijuana is "good" for you but we all know that a majority of people don't use it for medical reasons. It's just for a high. Wine and beer is used in America and abused in America. People drink to get drunk. I'm ok with people in Europe who drink a little with dinner and it's nothing out of the ordinary but here in the states it's all about getting a buzz and etc. So that's the problem. Since there is a stigma where I live and since people drink only to get drunk, I don't drink because scripture says to stay away from the appearance of evil.

drinking alcohol to be a drunkard is not advisable so does taking marijuana to be addicted to it. if there are beneficial things about stuff then that is no sin.
A glass of wine is good, even the bible suggests that (forgot verse). And marijuana as well as the plant were ampethamine is taken has good purposes too as you mentioned.

alcohol and marijuana are tools for witchcraft because it allows for the mind to grow weak and allow spirits to enter into the body. To me it seems like you put marijuana before god which is a sin. Personally i like to smoke pot, but i know i am wrong for doing it. It is illegal for a reason (even though alcohol should be illegal before marijuana) Is it all that bad of a thing, probably not seeing how there are a lot of worse things you could be doing and go on in the world but don't think that God would want you to, ya know what i mean

The reason that Christians have so many rules is because God doesnt want you to get hurt....because like this alcohol and mariguana thing do you know what it does when you drink it or smoke it??? it puts demons in you,.... and its hard to get them out depending if you are right in the lord or not! how do they hurt you? they get you depressed,.. and they are always there tryin to make you commit suicide. Thats why we cant do a lot of things in this world

It's not that drinking is a sin. It's that many people become addicted to it, therefor it becomes an idol. Anything that we put before God or ahead of Him is an idol. You never know if you're going to be addicted to it until you try it. It's better to never try it then.

It's the over indulgence.
Gluttony to be exact.
Wine helps other body systems but not by the gallon.
When you smoke Marijuana in excess it dulls the senses and reactions.
It is not just the act but moderation.
