Not change their personality but from experience ( 11 yrs as a vet nurse) desexed cats are far nicer. Entire males like to fight and go looking for ladies, this can end up extremely expensive to treat cat fight wounds all the time (untreated they can fester and in long term cause kidney failure). Also why would you want a tom they spray yuk! He will be much happier desexed, I always tell people that entire males are like teenage boys all hormones and getting none and they get mighty fustrated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had a tom cat once, and we had him "desexed" when he was a kitten, his personality didn't change drastically it did improve, he didn't become timid at all he actually became very relaxed and calm.
Remember "testosterone" and not getting them snipped would honestly I think be a bad choice only because they also become very mean, and getting your cat fixed can also decrease the chance of cancer (I don't remember what kind it is) .
Sounds like your cat was out trying to get some pussy, mine did the same thing and he didn't waste no time he was a few weeks old and he was out prowling the neighborhood, pimping all the kitties :) haha.
No he'll be fine, I recommend you get him snipped. :) Although when he comes home after the procedure, for a few days he'll need lots of attention, just like any other creature after they have some sort of surgery. The Vet will go over it with you.

Okay, well first of all no matter what you should get him neutered, and not only because he runs away or may get a female pregnant. The urge to mate is really really strong, and if you have ever experienced cats when they're hormones are going, you know that it is really stressful for an intact animal. Mostly in my experience it mellows them out. They don't try to mark their territory anymore (one of my kittens was a wizzer until we got him fixed), and some of them manifest less aggressive behavior. But not to worry, your cat will still be its unique self.

No, getting spayed or neutered will not change your cats personality, but it will prevent him from fathering unwanted kittens and that's a good thing!
If your cat is an indoor/outdoor cat he will still want to go exploring, he isn't running away from you, he just has interesting things he wants to do outside. You might want to consider making him an indoor cat if his exploring is becoming dangerous.

Actually one of my cats Simone was a horrible brat before I got her spayed and declawed. Her personality changed for the better right away. She is the sweetest most loving cat I have ever seen.

Place some aluminum foil loosely on the window sill covering the entire area held down on the ends with some type of weight to keep it from falling off or being blown away. The feel and the sound of the foil will deter them from jumping up on it. Leave it for some time until they get used to paying no attention to that spot. You may have to do the same on occasion to break the habit again.

It will make him more calm. Now if you were declawing him ..thats when you should be concerned about a big personality change.
