The real truth is because they do not support what the churches have taught. The Catholic Bible has more books than the King James version but the catholics do not accept many of the dead sea scrolls. If you are interested in reading some of the books you can have book stores order you.....The lost books of the Bible and the forgotten book of Eden, then you'll see what I am talking about.

The Dead Sea Scrolls were never suppressed by the church. It is commonly believed from such things as the DiVinci Code, but the DVC is fiction, and so is the alleged suppression of the DSS.
The closest you will get is a scholar (not a church person) named John Strugnell who did not release translations for many years, and was finally removed, and then the documents became more widely known. See here for more info:

It depends on what you mean by suppressed, but the churches weren't involved.
The control of them fell to the Israeli Antiquites Authority after the 1967 war. There seems to be two sorts of scroll, "Intact Scrolls" and "Fragments".
All the Intact Scrolls, including stuff called "other material" have been published.
There were problems with the "Fragments", and access was restricted. In 1991 Huntington Library in San Marino, California, which has negative copies of all the fragments, allowed international access to them despite the protests of the Israeli Antiquties Authority. Later, the IAA removed the restritions of publication and expediated their publication.

they were never suppressed by the churches
the dead sea scrolls were found in some caves near the Dead Sea by some kids pitching rocks in some caves who heard something break...
they are very old copies of mostly scripture from the Essense who lived at Jesus time and in the centuries before... and they show how very well preserved the Old Testament was because the sections of Isaiah 53 varied only by
because of some superficial similarities to the expectations of the Messiah of the Essences and Jesus... some american jouranlists went hog wild at first claiming "Qumran was the cradle of Chrstiaianity more than BEthlehem"... but not so.. might have been MIllar Burrow... Im trying to remmember I did a research paper on it once
