I believe they are taking advantage of your kindness. Like you, I would have excepted them to pay for at least one meal or buy some groceries. A bottle of wine is nice, if someone is staying one night! But I believe if the guests stay for more then a week, then they should "pay" you back with a nice dinner or something like that! Also, expecting you to cook them meals is completely rude! They could at least offer to help or do it themselves! I don't think you are overreacting because I would have reacted the exact same way.

If you didn't want to buy them breakfast, then you shouldn't have taken them out. You could have let them make their own breakfast at your house - it would have been cheaper than a meal out, though still draining on your groceries.
The gift wasn't the best, but maybe they didn't expect a free ride when they came and didn't know they should bring a better gift. Or, maybe they were strapped for cash considering that they have a baby.
It's really hard to judge without more information.
On the bright side, now you know not to let them stay at your house again - or at least make it clear that they will need to supply their own food.

Maybe they just don't have the money for that, after all the cost of traveling somewhere these days is outrageous. Why did you feel as if you had to take them out to eat, or buy breakfast. Are donuts or muffins not good enough? I don't think they are being rude at all. Just remember the old saying, "Company, like fish starts to stink after four days."

it reads like you feel you were put out a little by the stay, this is why i believe in hotels.i wouldn't say rude but, they did take full advantage.if you were paying for breakfast you should of just went to mic dees .i personally would have dona a buffet at home cheaper.i do feel the gift could have been a bit more thoughtful but, maybe they had no money.that is why they put you out.next time i would say; i'm sorry but guests will have to stay at a hotel we have no room.

Sorry, not rude. They're guests. They aren't required to treat you to any meals, nor bring a gift. It would be nice if they offered, but not rude if they don't. Next time you know what to expect from their visit.
Perhaps, they'll treat you as nice as you've treated them when you go to visit them.

in case you invited them, then you definately are in charge for the entertainment. according to probability no longer grilling, in spite of the undeniable fact that it grew to become into in uncomplicated terms a guiding principle, no longer an order. And as for looking down on a contemporary because of the fact it wasn't high priced, shame on you. You sound like a petty, inexpensive, and confident, impolite hostess.

Well, personally, I think they were being slightly rude, but not too rude. They ARE guests and you should REALLY expect the worst from them. Any questions just ask me cokebub3@yahoo.com .
