Are you thinking about the cabbage soup diet? It's not calorie free but about as low calorie as you will get.

Ingredients
1 package Lipton soup mix
2 Bouillon cubes for flavoring
1 stick Celery (not the whole stalk) - diced
1/2 Head of green cabbage - diced
3 Carrots - sliced
2 Bell peppers - any color - sliced
6 Large green onions, or 1 large yellow, white or purple onion - diced
2 cans Tomatoes - either diced or whole
Cooking Spray

Preparation
Salt, pepper, parsley, garlic powder to taste. Use any seasoning that you like to add flavor.

Spray large pot with cooking spray. Saute onions, peppers and carrots until tender. Add cabbage and about 12 cups of water. Toss in bullion cubes, soup mix and seasonings. Cook until soup reaches desired tenderness; add tomatoes.

Cook's Notes
Soup can be reheated and contains very few calories.

7 Day Diet Plan (Cabbage Soup Diet Recipe)

You can keep changing the ingredients used, so that you don't get bored of the same recipe.

Cabbage Soup Recipe
- 6 large green onions
- 2 green peppers
- 1 or 2 cans of tomatoes (diced or whole)
- 3 carrots
- 1 container (10 oz. Or so) Mushrooms
- 1 bunch celery
- 1/2 head cabbage
- 1 package Lipton soup mix
- 1 or 2 cubes bouillon (optional)
- 1 48 oz can V8 juice (optional)
Season to taste with salt, pepper, parsley, garlic powder, etc.

Directions:

1. Slice green onions, put in pot and start to sauté with cooking spray.
2. Cut green pepper stem end off and cut in half, take seeds and membrane out. Cut the green pepper into bite size pieces and put in pot.

3. Take the outside leaves off the cabbage, cut into bite size pieces, put in pot.

4. Clean carrots cut into bite size pieces, put in pot.

5. Slice mushrooms into thick slices (otherwise they will disappear in the soup), put in pot.

6. If you would like a spicy soup, add a small amount of cayenne pepper (red pepper) now (1/3 teaspoon is quite a bit as the soup will get spicier as it cooks further).

7. You can use beef or chicken bouillon cubes for seasonings. They have all the salt and flavors you will need.

8. Use about 12 cups of water (or 8 cups and the V8 juice), cover and put heat on low. Let soup cook for a long time (two hours works well).

9. Season to taste with salt and pepper.

10. Eat all the soup you want, whenever you want for the next 7 days.

The only thing that has NO calories is WATER. That doesn't sound like a very tasty soup to me.

Instead of a soup diet, how about drinking plenty of water, and eating healthy foods? Vegetables, whole grains, etc. Lots more variety than eating soup at every meal. The only reason a soup diet might work is because all the liquid in the soup will fill you up quickly, but you can accomplish the same thing by just drinking a lot of water.

I think you`re talking about the cabbage soup diet.I haven`t made it in years. You might be able to find it on the net though. You could try cutting the cabbage up and putting it in a pot with carrots, celery, onion, crushed tomatoes, basil, oregano, salt, and freshly ground pepper, and diced red and green peppers and let it cook all day on the stove. Also a few cloves of garlic.Check it and if it needs more liquid add more crushed tomatoes.Let simmer all day, checking for liquid and it should be wonderful! This isn`t calorie free, but it`s pretty low in calories!Good luck, and I hope this works for you!Happy New Year!

Skin and boil a small chicken.Add two large chopped leeks,a chopped onion and a few chopped potatoes(optional).Chop and add some carrots. Then in a blender put more carrots and another onion and blend till mushy and add. Then put loads of parsley(lots)in and simmer for 45 mins.Don't be put off by the chicken as it has been skined. The soup is filling and low calorie and utterly delicious.Oh i forgot add some chicken or veg stock cubes as well.

this is as close to a calorie free soup you will ever get....
2 cups water
half an onion
3 cloves of chopped garlic
salt and pepper to taste

it's tasty and satisfying if you eat it with a piece of bread but you are raising the calorie content of your meal. you can also add a drizzle of olive oil for more taste which is up to you and depends on how much calorie you want to add

I know what you mean. Low fat veggie soups are so easy to make and its really about what you like and what you have available. If you have a hand blender they are really easy to make (and I recommend buying one - they are as cheap as £5 for a really basic one) smooth soups made from veggies seem to really fill you up and are free of fat and any significant calories. Most of them count as "free" food on most of the major diet plans.

The basic rule as far as I am concerned is sweat the flavourings in a tiny bit of oil first to get the most out of them - so if you want curry/spices/garlic/ginger then do this first, then add some onions, then the rest of the veggies. Chopped into small pieces.
Once they are all starting to colour slightly, add hot stock - chicken always works best if you are using instant stock cubes, but if you are veggie then use a veg stock cube. If I am making an Italian plum tomato soup I use a beef stock cube instead.

Some recipes:

Curried potato and spinach. Let some mustard seeds pop, then add coriander seed, cumin, fenugreek, chillis garlic and ginger (or simply use a good quality curry powder) add finely diced onions. The add finely diced potatoes (I never bother to peel by the way - extra fibre is good for you) add some chicken stock, let it bubble away for a while, then add frozen or fresh spinach towards the end of cooking. Whizz to a smooth soup with a blender. Also works well with leeks (without the curry spices)

Carrot and cumin/coriander/orange/thyme.
Carrot seems to work with all of the flavours above, so chose which flavour you want - if its cumin/corinader then add these seeds and cook then add garlic and onions, then add finely chopped carrots. Add stock and simmer. When nearly cooked if using thyme, add a little now, if using orange or even lemon, blend it first then add orange/lemon juice plus a little grated rind.

Winter veg soup. this is a brilliantly tasty and easy soup which I make using one of those cheap stew-packs you can buy frozen in the supermarket (they usually contain carrot, turnip, onions) Just add it frozen at the usual time, add the stock and when its blended grate nutmeg into it - delicious!

You can make most soups from frozen veg - I often use frozen carrots or spinach or broccoli to make these soups.

Italian tomato soup. Just sweat onions and garlic in a pan. Add 2 tins toms (I use whole ones rather than chopped and just cut them a little - the chopped ones go mushy) a little tom puree and beef stock. Towards the end add some basil/oregano. You can add rice, beans or pasta to this to make a really substantial meal. It doesnt need blending (if you added diced veggies like carrots/celery before the toms you would have a minestrone soup)

Finally, lentil soup. One of my favourites - works really well with the curry spices - just add after the onions, add stock and let it cook. You may not want to blend this one.

Other good low fat ones are chinese style hot and sour or noodle soups which really need good stock to make them work but are nice and light but quite filling.
