Have your tried to stop eating, or cutting back perhaps. Gone vegetarian and sworn off all refined sugar have you? Religiously work out an hour a day 5 days a week? Then I suppose your not really fat then right?

I have found over the years that people are inherently lazy by nature. it is much easier to keep a bad habit then it is to fight and struggle to form a new "good" habit...changing the way people view food items may be one of the hardest things in the world.

food is nothing more than fuel for the human body, and the higher quality fuel that you use the better the human body will run. we are nothing but very complex machines.

you wouldn't put 87 octane in a $250K Lamborghini but people will put crappy, sugar laden, processed foods in their bodies all day every day and then wonder why it breaks down and starts to fail.

This is probably the most stupid question I have ever heard in my life..I am a large person. I will say that I am fat. and Yes.. I can say that I have tried everything. I have done vegetarian.. I have given up refined sugars.. I have religiously worked out 2 hours a day 7 days a week...I have tried pills.. I have tried so many diets that I am sick of them.. And you know what.. I tried to have surgery but the doctor basically told me that for someone so large I was in better health than most average weight people. So tell me this.. what haven't I tried oh mighty idiot of yahoo...You have no idea what people go through who are just large.. Healthy but large.. Now I admit there are some people who just want to take the easy way out and do nothing themselves.. but let's not put everyone into that category ok. And reading these other comments about fat people being lazy....well all I have to say to that is this... If all fat people are lazy.. then all skinny people must be really stupid.... or at least that's the way it sounds coming from these questions and posted answers. Have a wonderful day

Actually, most people who can't loose weight have really tried just about everything. Usually it can be due to insulin resistance. You can be insulin resistant without being diabetic, but usually insulin resistinace leads to diabetes. Whehter we loose weight easily or hard has a lot to do with how our body's handle the insulin the body makes.

If your body is insulin resistant, then it stores the fat instead of buring it as fuel. If you look it up on google you can find out more about this problem that seems to be sweeping the nation more and more.

The trick is finding the right diet that will get your body back to doing what it should do. That's the hard part. Some people can eat barely anything, yet still gain weight. Genetics and physical problems play a huge part. Not to mention thyroid problems are more common than most people think.

You have no room to talk unless you've been there and struggled yourself. Not everyone's body is the same and some people have a difficult time losing weight. It doesn't mean that people are lazy. I have tried everything and nothing has worked because I'm insulin resistant. I've cut down to 1000 calories a day with increased exercise and it hasn't dropped over 9 lbs. So no people aren't lazy, you are just a jerk who doesn't understand people's body and how they work. I was even a high school swimmer and would swim 7 days a week doing 2 a days and cut down on portions and I still never lost anything. So get off your high horse you jerk. As well as you other jerks who called us lazy.

Hello =)

Well....

As a fat person, who has "tried everything......"

Some of your information is invalid, but, I won't mince ideology with you. You obviously have a lot of preconceptions about things, and preconceptions are wickedly hard to change.

I once fasted for 180 days, taking in 0 calories for that entire time.

How many of you have the willpower to do that?

I did lose weight, but I was still fat. The side effect was that I became a rather mean person.

Since that time, I have decided that it is better to be fat and compassionate, than thin and mean.... You seem mean, perhaps that is why.... Perhaps it is merely how you present yourself, and I am mistaken.

In either event, if you are not fat, you have no business having an opinion about being fat. Or, if you must have an opinion, at least have the good manners to keep it to yourself.

You see, evolution is on your side. Those of us who are fat are dying much younger than you, due to the many illnesses associated with obesity. In time, we will be bred out of the gene pool. Until that time, just have a little tolerance.

Namaste, and Happy New Year,

--Tom

You must be some skinny little jerk who has never had a weight problem in your life and you are obviously too myopic and shallow to look past things and quit judging people. Have you ever had an addiction? That's what overeating is - an addiction. There should be a twelve step program that doesn't cost a friggin' fortune, but there is not (Jenny Craig - $600 for 30lbs; Gym membership - $1500; Veggies quite a bit more expensive than mac and cheese). I don't care what anyone says, being overweight can be a sickness. Cut people some slack. You really are missing out on being close to some very nice people by being so discrimnating and so obviously disgusted because we are all not perfect. Your loss....

Believe me, i used to be overweight and had tried a lot of different things to lose weight. Not all diets work for everyone. I ended up going to weight watchers and lost it there and kept it off for many years now. Even though it worked for me, doesn't mean it will work for everyone.

Some people who are overweight may have tried everything, giving up because they can't lose the weight only to find out it is some medical problem that is causing them to not be able to lose weight. Even taking some medications make people gain weight without even trying or prevent them from losing the weight. So, before you judge, there are some reasons for people being overweight who don't over eat. Some may even eat the right foods and such but may eat too much and still will gain weight.

They may have tried everything with the one exception of cutting portions down to a quarter serving.

For some of them it's not that simple. The Indians have a saying: Do not judge a man until you have walked a mile in his moccasins." Have you even walked a block in those moccasins?

What they mean to say is: They have tried every lazy man way available. You can't lose weight with a magic pill.
