Ur looking in the wrong places. I'm 44, a musician, singer songwriter, I'm single. You need to get on different sites like plentyoffish.com Totally free, you can search by age area, and interests. pretty cool site. I have been approached by a few, but nothing I'm interested in yet.P.S. Want to go out for dinner? wink!

Mostly because women our age know a good thing when they see one.
I am not sure about 40's and 50's but most upper 50's and 60's have not become familiar with how to find you on-line. At least the ones you want.
But don't give up. I met my current wife through a relationship web site when I was 61. I am now 65 and still married. And of course I am a shinning example of what you are looking for. LOL

I am 42, and available - but although I am not taken, I have been taken for a ride by my ex, so like most 40 somethings that are single, I am a lot more cautious now - and I am too cynical to do the cyber thing.
Most guys my age, don't need to messenger, as we do not want the hassle from Nigerian women. Hell If your a man, and not 'cute' in the Leonardo department (boyish looks) then your instantly branded a Pedophile by women of our own age, and the rest of the 'women', turn out to be 13, have no sense of spelling or grammar, so its not much of a turn on.
I also have more funds now, so when I play, its not in the cyber world, its in the real world, which for me is on the beach in the Med (Croatia) or a nice restaurant in Normandy, or even the shows up in London. But I do like to come here to see the majority of ignorant answers, wind up a few foolish askers, and read the few good questions and answers, answering a few if I can.

Don't know if I would be classified as anyones "Mr. Right", But ... here I am. Just send me an email; we can begin a 'distant' friendship ... and who knows.
I believe most mature men and women beyond the age of 40, and better, have arrived at life conclusions and lifestyles that others do not resonate with. Many, prefer just to be 'loners', while others are fortunate to find one another.
I am pretty set in my ways (60ish) and would consider it quite a "Blessing" to connect with a virtual 'soul-mate' at this late date.
YOU have my email addy ... so, the ball is in your court. I don't bite (unless asked!) and really enjoy meeting new 'net' friends.
Ciao-4-now,
Jael

I think there's lots of them online at any given time, we just don't go around telling everybody our age. I dare say right now, on Answers, there's a thousand or more men that are 40+. Ask the question, and see for yourself.

I'm in Yahoo Personals, and there are plenty of men in their 40s and 50s on there.

This one is easy to answer. First of all, men die sooner, so by the time we all reach middle-age there are less of them and more of us. Second of all the ones who are looking are also dealing with their own mortality issues, aging, balding, sagging, weight gain and impotence. Nothing like middle-age to make you feel insecure about possibly being undressed in front of virtual strangers! And third I would say that because of aging issues they are not bouncing all over the bars looking for babes. Their testosterone levels are dropping and they are becoming more interested in having conversations and snuggling, leaving them to remain in or find monogomous relationships.

They're not taken; they just don't spend their time on-line. Try going to some of the jazz clubs, or clubs that play music from their era. The men are out there, you just have to look in the right places!

Move to Florida. There are lots of single older men. I have to fight them off. I'm just not interested in dating anyone more than 10 years older than me.

They are not all taken
There are some floating around, but at that age believe me they are probably more trouble than they are worth.
The decent ones are taken.
Older me don't seem to realize how being dishonest and disrespectful when you're old as dirt is very unattractive.
