I am 17 year old and both my father and brother are abusive (both physically and emotionally), and it causes a lot of stress. Lately my dad has been a lot more mentally abusive, which I find worse, and I feel it is interfering with me trying to lose some weight. But whenever he or my brother goes into one of their random fits, I just feel like saying "the hell with everything," and for a few hours don't care what I eat (and I'll eat chips or cookies or other unhealthy foods to "comfort" me). Then, I always feel so guilty about going off my diet and eating gross foods. How can I put a stop to emotional eating?

Who ever the JERK that said find a hobby is... you need another one other than answering questions like these. She's being ABUSED! What hobby should she take up that negates ABUSE? Idiot! Anyway, forget the eating problem, you need to find some help. Reach out to someone. At aschool, a friend. Someone. But abuse is a cycle. Allow it to scar you and i promise it will haunt you and your generations to come. Please get help and realize that love doesn't hit. Love doesn't break bones or kill... this is abuse.

First you need to deal with the abusive situation at home. Is there a chance you could live elsewhere with a friend or relative? If not is there someone ,a friends mom or someone like a school counsellor or minister you can talk to about your feelings and your situation at home? You need to find a way to get some help and learn how to stop turning to food for comfort. I know how hard it is i have had weight issues my whole life. The abuse is the major issue here the eating is secondary, but will get worse if not addressed. Please find someone to talk to and get some help even email Dr Phil if you have to.

Just quit doing it. You know you're doing yourself harm. Instead make a point of it to do something good when you feel like bingeing. Maybe do some excercise instead. Sing a song. Take a long walk. As far as your family is concerned, they are probably treating you badly because they feel badly about themselves. It's easier to put someone else down than to build yourself up. Keep this in mind and fight back. One rule of self defense is when attacked, attack back! Make it clear that if they try to hurt you there will be consequences. Do whatever is neccessary to defend yourself. You're the most important person to you and you need to take care of yourself first. And believe me, they will one day get their's. Everyone pays for their mistakes eventually. (Ask Saddam Hussein) Don't do something that's bad for you because of anyone else. Living a good life is the best revenge.

You need to tell someone older that you look up to. Maybe a teacher or if you got to church, someone there. Speaking of church, when you just feel like giving up, just pray to the Lord and He will help you throgh your trials and tribulations. In the mean time, you could always go to a counselor at school. I will pray for you. Peace and love.
