Is this bad? My mom is very concerned... I'm 19, and live far away from home and i'm in college right now, so my eating habits aren't always the best.

It's around the time of finals, and I've been stressing about finals. I've also had some family issues going on lately, and just really haven't been eating much of anything. I only drink water, and have cut out soda, fast food, and sugar completely. I'm overweight anyway, so that's not the issue... I could definately stand to lose the 18 pounds.

And no.. I'm not ill at all. I just am a typical college student... I ate fast food basically all the time. I never drank water, just soda, and loved sugar and stuff like that. Am I losing it all this quickly because I cut out the those three things?? I'm sure that's why my weight was staying the same to begin with..

Your mom is right to be concerned, that's a lot of weight to lose so quickly. If you're not eating well your health could be in jeapordy. Try eating a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables often during the day and be sure to get a couple servings of lean protien each day as well. Be sure to drink plenty of water as well and 3 servings of fat free milk a day or fat free yogart instead of milk or cheese. Cheese could be used in place of your protien as well as peanut butter. This will keep you feeling well and you blood sugar levels where it needs to be. If you're in college your body needs the proper nutrition so that you can perform well and retain the material you're being taught. You're a young person and if you start practicing good eating habits now you'll do well when you're older. Don't forget to excercise and use suncreen everyday. Happy New Year.

Make sure you are taking a vitamin supplement and try to eat fresh fruits and vegetables....your Mom will worry about you whether you are losing weight or not, but the best you can do is report to her that you are eating healthy and getting your daily dose of vitamins!

2 to 3 lbs is the best for a weeks loss.
If your loss is that fast it will come back quickly too unless you are ill.

2 lbs a week is a healthy weight loss. More than that is indicating loss of lean muscle mass.

That sounds dangerous. You might need to watch your diet a little more closely.

Good luck!
