Hi,
I use the software from this website: -

i had crashed my windows and this software wz like a boon in recovering data. The only con is that it takes a lot of time.

Norton ghost just images a hard drive, that wont fix anything. You need to go to recovery console and pull a chkdsk /r, that will attempt to repair any bad sectors on your HDD and if it cant fix them it will mark them off bad, so nothing will attemp to be written to them. Ift hat dont work your boot sector might have gotten damaged do a /fixboot in recovery console. To get in recovery console put in your OS CD, boot to it and press R to repair at main option screen. If asks you for password it is blank unless you made one for admin..
