To fulfill Bible prophesy, whether they admit is or not is irrelevant.

We live in the days of 2 Timothy 3 and 4.

Because in America, the Christians who get the press are the fundamentalists who think they know everything, that science knows nothing, that they hold the keys to heaven and hell, and who will not listen to any other opinion. They believe in a Christianity that is half or more American, based on the fact that America has an over-well-defined legal system. This has made their brand of Christianity legalistic as well.

Apparently not all Christians are not intellectual, however. At least, a few answers to my questions seem to support this.

A basic belief in God is not just intellectual but the only logical way of thinking about creation. The chirality required to build both proteins and DNA it is impossible for life to have ever begun without intelligent direction.. To hold any other theory is akin to believing that fairies put a coin under the pillow of a child that has lost a tooth... Jim

Just remember that intelligence and wisdom are not the same thing.

Faith is available to everyone, whether you have limited intelligence or a genius. And isn’t that the way it should be? Wouldn’t it be a terrible thing if you had to take an IQ test before God would listen to your prayers?

There are some truths that are so fundamental that some people see them as simplistic. In reality they are the foundation for a meaningful life. Some people think they are too smart for this. Their choice.

The sciences are affirming Christianity. Archeology is proving that certain Biblical events did happen, and physics is proving that at the Big Bang there was light. Sound familiar? Look it up in the first page of the Bible. Christianity is only considered a non-intellectual belief by people who refuse to open their minds to ideas new to them. They prefer to go on thinking that only their ideas hold any water when, in actuality, the ideas of evolution are failing.

Because it is a belief.

Beliefs are not intellectual, but emotional frame sets.

Knowledge, on the other hand, provides a rational understanding of things based on experience.

A religion that puts belief over knowledge is, by definition, a non intellectual belief.

Honestly--and this answer comes from a mostly-atheist--something happened in modern Christianity. What, I don't know. I've been reading quite a bit of 19th-early 20th century Christian theologians lately, as well as works of some of the church fathers, and it's actually incredibly intellectual stuff. Why none of these people are read or even much recognized anymore, I don't know. (I'm likely to blame the television, but that's just me.)

Well, any intellectual activity involved with faith necessarily reaches an end-point which is not intellectual - Nothing can be created from nothing, so there must have been a creator - but no answer to how the creator came from nothing. You can know the bible back to front but it doesn't make it intellectual - there are people who can quote whole passages of The Lord of the Rings. Knowledge of nonsense is not intellectual.

If you get "truth" from a book written thousands of years ago by men who thought the world was flat and disease was caused by demons, how freaking intellectual do you expect us to think you are?

Here's your answer my dear friend. An atheist is only considered an intellectual thinker by other so-called Athiests. When the chips are down the only thing that matters is where will you spend eternity? I doubt if intellectual thinking will matter much in hell.

Because most atheists feel that christians do not understand or want to understand science. And they feel that we all are being blindly led by what our parents have taught us. That is not true for all of us Christians however, and it is aggravating to say the least to be placed in that mold.
