Here again it depends on the strength of the person. It's like a person who quits smoking and still hangs out with smoking friends. It is always hard at first. Some may find it easier at first to stay away for the first little while as they continue their treatment etc. You can introduce yourself slowly back into the scene. However if you feel tempted just back off and stay away from the situation completely. You must as the recovering person make this decision on your own. No one can give you that answer except yourself.

Of course they CAN. But WILL they? most likely not if they are newly sober. It's a very difficult thing to overcome in the first few years (yes, YEARS) and it should be a situation avoided. Addictions make people weak to resisting temptation even if they think they don't want to have a drink, they may still fall into the old pattern when around others who drink. It's best to only socialize with those who do not drink at all (weather they are also alcoholics too or not - some people like myself don't drink, but I'm not a recovering alcoholic) But recovering alcoholics who have been sober for a long amount of time are the best people to associate with.

Yes, most definately, but takes lots of self control in early recovery (first 12 months) and is best to be avoided until the person is much stronger within themself.
