Once upon a time it was the thing to do.
However, The Times is no longer what it once was and hardly worth lining the bottom of a dog kennel let alone ironing a copy.

Of course, but only after he has run your morning bath. It is so awfully hard to get a butler these days who doesn't try to screw one's mistress or worse still one's children. I had to fire my cook for p1ssing in the soup and she brought in her union, intolerable! !
I do so miss the days of the Raj.

Well, if mine did not, I would fire him on the spot, old boy.
He must also Iron my Socks and Underpants.
And lay the Table with the utmost precision........
But everybody feels as I do about these things surely?

Yes, especially if it is a bit damp. If mine complained, I would thrash the git.

Note to certain Yanks:
In England if one says "Times" or "The Times" it is taken that one is referring to THE TIMES newspaper.

No matter where I would be in the world, I would refer to the Times and a couple other UK papers for a balanced world view.

If one's butler did not know this, one should let him go.

If one were truly a gentleman, let alone a Lord, one would not need to ask such a question.
