have you checked the date of your yeast?
and did you put the yeast in exactly when it calls for it?

Whole wheat flour has less gluten than all-purpose or bread flour and won't rise as much. Your bread machine may have a wheat setting that allows it to rise longer. You also can use half whole wheat and half bread flour or add gluten to increase how much it rises.

I agree with the answer that says to use part whole wheat flour and part white flour. FoodTV had a show about whole wheat flour and bread once and said that it would not rise as well as white flour.

um your yeast might have died. when you put it in the water was it really hot? if the water is too warm it wont rise. try cooling it down a bit but not to were its cold.

Most often the yeast is the problem....or maybe the water was too hot that was added and killed the yeast.....whatever the event, it is probably the yeast to blame.
