Ancestors were English but I suspect something Nordic.

Hey Bang 4 Buck,

Family Search has England as many entries back as far as 1700's. It could easily be nordic, but there was no evidence of that found. Ellis Island had none, which is unusual. This is a less popular surname, and hard to find information. GENFORUM has no Helstrop site. And the Family surname sites do not have any information either.
