Sift together dry ingredients; stir in rolled oats and raisins. Stir in oil, eggs, and milk. Beat with a spoon until thoroughly blended. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 400° for 10 to 12 minutes. Makes about 6 dozen.

You could just substitute oil for the butter or shortening. Usually 1/3 to 1/2 cup of oil is the standard measurement in cookies and cakes. If you use the oil, I would use a little more vanilla extract for flavor. Maple syrup or honey is also good for flavoring oatmeal cookies.

This is the recipe for Vanishing Oatmeal Cookies which my mom always made. I think (almost certain) it originally came from the lid of the Quaker Oatmeal canister. Like everything else...it ends up on the Net some way or another. lol Good luck.

Oatmeal Cookie Recipe
From Quaker Oats

Baking Tips:
Do not bake warm cookie dough. Cookies will spread too much and not bake properly.
Do not bake cookie dough on a warm or hot cookie sheet.
Cookie dough will last for one week in a refrigerator, one month in a freezer.
Baked cookies should be completely cooled before storing. Store in an airtight container.
