Freedom of thought
I will teach my child how I deem I should, just as a Christian does, just as a Muslim does, just as a Buddist does.

Because their mommy and daddy convinced them to have better control over them. People do not really believe in god. They fear the thought of him that was instilled in them by those that need to control them.Be a free thinker. If you need a god to have a life then you don't have one.The EASTER BUNNY says"If your god knows that there is no other but him,why then is it that the first commandment is Thou shall have no other god but me". Sounds like he is a little insecure, or maybe some guy wrote that to make it more believable to Republicans, hypocrites, and morons that must be led around to do their bidding for them, and so far the scam works. I have taught my children to be free thinkers. They are doing very well thank you . They do not persecute their religious friends, nor do they argue with them. My children respect the beliefs of their friends and do not try to sway one way or the other their fears of their god.HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Christians, if you have a kid and they ask you about believing in God and you tell them that God exists
then they ask you why some people don't believe in God?
What is YOUR answer?
The same in either case, you'd probably say that Atheists are scared, lost souls. And an Atheist would probably tell their child that Christians are scared, weak souls. You either lead your kids to your beliefs, or you allow them to explore the world around them. I choose the latter.

I wouldn't tell my kid that God doesn't exist, actually. They'd probably have to listen to my folklore-major mouth yammer on for hours about the huge variety of religions in the world and their freedom to choose any of them or none of them if they want, and it's all a matter of personal faith, and they'd get bored and probably end up atheist anyway because it'd be too complicated.

Because many people have a deep psychological need and the more uneducated ones (in general) use god to fill that need. Obviously tailoring the answer to be age appropriate.
I have already answered the question for my 11 year old, my 7 year old still believes and says his prayers with his mother, when he starts wanting to discuss it we will. My one year old says gagaga a lot.

I would explain to them that some people have lower intelligence and education, and that sadly those people are the majority. Then I'd go on to explain to them how people believe in other stupid things like tarot cards and astrology.

In Buddhism there is what is called 'deity yogas'.
Deity yoga is the practice of envisioning and becoming a perfect being.
I will explain this is what most theist religions do, except that this is the very foundation of their belief instead of a technique.

I do have one. And my answer will vary depending on how old she is, but basically it will be that they are very superstitious and they are buying old beliefs that used to be the explanation for how things got here. But that we have science now, and it is working on those answers. Most people choose to take the technology that science produces, but they don't like the answers that it provides because they see that it means they have to die and that scares them.

They are simple minded people who do not question a 2000 year old book of superstition. If he wanted further information, he could read the book to see how utterly unbelievable it actually is

It's because so many people are scared.
I've two children so it's not an "if". And while they'll be in no doubt about my beliefs, I have no qualms about them choosing whatever they believe to get through life - provided it's not haranguing people unnecessarily to change their minds to the same as they think.
