Is it actually possible to claim 100% accuracy with two contrasting beliefs? Can either the atheist or the theist claim this, or can neither or both? This is a continuation to a recent question asking people to rate their own faith, and most people, atheists and theists, claimed to be 100% positive their own beliefs are correct. Are such claims not arrogant, not egotistical to an extreme?

For any of the people who did claim to be 100% positive on that survey, why did you choose that? Did you think choosing something else would make your faith seem weak?

Who is wrong?
It’s always the other, of course!

You are welcome!

The preponderence of facts points to the atheist being correct. Facts are not open to subjective interpretation. Faith is. A theist can never be 100% correct, although he might feel that way. The arrogance falls on the theist, as they only have their own ego to rely on.

Whoever actually has the evidence on their side. Which would be the atheist.

You will find that most atheists won't say 100% on things, where most Christians do. Which makes them a whole lot less open minded. Compare the 1s to 7s here. Notice the atheists went to the 6s with a couple of exceptions where the Christians never said 2. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AjRsrGSF5yC2Gpf8bq.aGr_sy6IX?qid=20070101143614AAtN0zp&show=7#profile-info-ee02416c1f7040a0cd9324386e41f61eaa

Hint:

If two people, an atheist and a believer in the greek gods living on top of mt. olympus both claim to be 100% correct about their own beliefs, who is wrong?

One doesn't accept random claims with no proof, the other does.

Neither person is wrong. Who has the right to tell someone that what they believe is wrong. People have beliefs because it is what their hearts and minds tell them and no one can change that. We are not robots. We make our own choices. Whether someone decides to believe in God is in their court. It is their choice. Whether someone decides to eat meat is their choice. People do not have the right to judge others on what is right or wrong when it is based on their personal choices. If you are talking about something like theft, murder, or other hannis crimes.. there you are getting into civilization and how people do the very wrong thing. Humans are not perfect. Everyone makes mistakes. Some just make them more than others.
If someone was to say that their beliefs are right and that mine are wrong I would fight them, but I would never tell them that they were wrong. Freedom of choice isn't just a right. Its natural and undeniable.

If you ever asked a friend if they ever saw the sun rise, they would probably answer "Yes, many times." If then asked if they were 100% certain of this, they would probably say "Yes and I can prove it. Let us meet tomorrow early and I will show you proof." So the next day you would both be watching as your friend says. "Look! There is the sun rising."
Would your friend be correct with all of this proof? Or would you be correct as you tell your friend that the sun does not rise. It is the earth which is moving and not the sun? Your answer according to science would be correct.
I can not prove the existence of God but I am 100% certain that God exists. I base my belief on the testimony of Jesus and of those who have gone before me and also on how my faith has helped me in my life. I have also been with those who are dying and know of their faith and testimony as they experience their final journey to God.

Atheists don't deal in certainties, we deal in facts. We only state something as true when there is evidence to back it up. Religion doesn't do that, it bases many of its claims on word of mouth stories and opinions.

As well, atheists are willing to say, "I might be wrong," or "I _was_ wrong" when evidence appears that contradicts their statements. (For example, plate tectonics were considered a crackpot idea when first proposed in 1910; by 1960, only crackpots rejected tectonics and its evidence.)

Theists, on the other hand, are unwilling to admit errors in their views and would rather stick their fingers in their ears and sing "LA LA LA!" when something contradicts their statements. (For example DNA and evolution prove the similarity of species and carbon dating proves the age of fossils, but Young Earth Cretins - oops, creationists - live in denial of those facts.)

It's easy to be certain when one has religion, and such people are almost always certainly wrong and unwilling to change, unlike atheists. That is their greatest failing.

Wiccans are one type of NeoPagan. you could no longer generalize all NeoPagans. Wiccans and maximum NeoPagans are theists. "NeoPagan" is the variety of extensively defined term it extremely is does finally end up which comprise some atheists...however the final public are patently theists: we honor, worship and paintings with gods (usually multiples) who've unique names and thoughts. We additionally usually settle for medical theories of the universe, yet that has no longer something to do with being atheist. Being an atheist ability you do not have faith in any gods. in case you have any dealings with the gods in any respect, you for sure are no longer an atheist. i don't understand why you have gotten the effect we are atheists.

No one is wrong.

Each and every person supports what they know in strict accordance with their own experiences.

The wider the perspective, the most accurate the perception will be.

Therefore it's not a matter of who's right and who's wrong, but how wide or narrow each perspective is.

I will quote Dawkins...

Merely because two people who hold opposite views are equally passionate that does not mean the truth lies somewhere in between, it is perfectly possible for one to be completely wrong and the other to be completely correct.

It is not arrogant of me to believe that the tooth fairy does not exist, same with your god, arrogance has nothing to do with it.
