Take a class or get a book. How to Be Your Dogs Best Friend by the Monks of New Skete is excellent.
It's not hard at all if you can be consistant and work with them for 15 minutes at a time twice a day. I've trained all my dogs as adults because they were all rescues.
The keys are always be fair and firm, never strike your dog. Be consistant with how you react and the commands that you use. Using positive reinforcment (treats, "good dog" and affection) is always more effective than corrections (choke chain, etc.) but corrections are sometimes necessary, especially with problem behavior. Good luck!

it's hard but it can be done a lot of time and patience, tough love don't work on full grown dogs. they have a developed temprments and need time to adjust to their surroundings. if it was an outside dog it will be very hard to train it inside once again, it can be done but I would recomend obediance training if you have the $.

You give lots of praise when they do something you'd like them to repeat, and
Only say NO! if it's within 5-10 seconds max after they've done something you want them to Never do again. (Otherwise they won't be able to relate the NO! to what they did.)
Consistency in doing so is the key!
Having developed a good, trusting relationship beforehand makes your words have more weight, too.

With a lot of patience and love. The dog has to relearn old commands and probably learn new ones. Think about trying to cope in a foreign country and no knowledge of the language.

Like with a child- consistency. Use food or treats, small ones. Use a good leash and a collar that slides easily....use firm hand and voice, and d o it for a t least a few minutes every day...introduce a new command every week or so...and practice practice practice...socializing it too - around other dogs and pppl too helps.

The same way you train a puppy, with patience, treats and tlc.
If you teach your dog as if he knows nothing, he will respond that way, and learn more quickly. Of course, he/she wont learn as quick as a puppy, but i'm sure you have time.

surely no longer. i'm no longer able to rigidity strongly sufficient which you're able to on no account prepare wolf or wolf canine to be protection or shield canine! Wolves are for sure shy and irritating. attempting to coach an animal with those characteristics to be a protection or shield canine will in uncomplicated terms create a volatile animal that even you could no longer are anticipating the habit of. this could create a risky animal that would finally would desire to be taken to a sanctuary to stay out it is existence or could want to be euthanized. absolutely everyone with the rationale if practise wolves or wolf canine to do protection or shield paintings shouldn't in any respect be granted a permit. I at present very own 2 packs of wolves and wolf canine. The doggies ate no distinctive. It take a great number of socialization to have then boost as much as no longer be shy. absolutely everyone looking over the fence and seeing a wolf or wolf canine could on no account evaluate leaping over. merely their visual attraction is sufficient of a deterrent. What they don't understand is that the wolves could run - earlier each and every thing. If one took the inducement to attack, they could all connect in, and it would be a bloodbath. If no longer, they had all merely stand back and bark. As for temperaments, i've got raised assorted wolves and wolf canine from doggies and, if raised and socialized top, they boost as much as be candy, affectionate, unswerving animals. yet they do no longer look to be canine. they're plenty extra clever and don't have the organic instinct to need to thrill people that canine do. It takes impressive paintings to advance a properly rounded wolf or wolf canine. you will have not have been given any existence. those animals do no longer advance themselves. I take mine to colleges to do shows to instruct little ones approximately wolves, why we choose them and how they're existence is being threatened. right here is the information. i'm the chief. i'm no longer the alpha - there's a pair of those in each and every %. yet, as quickly as I enter their enclosures I surely have specific status. The alphas will undergo me. yet i'd desire to instruct understand to them. If somebody attacked me and that i ran, the %. could stick to. they had in uncomplicated terms attack if I or the alphas did so first. Their nature is to stick to via occasion. .
