Most of the treatments (the ones I'm thinking of are for tiles as I don't know of the treatment you're talking about) don't really work effectively and perform badly in wet or constantly damp conditions. It might look good for 12 months but then the 'look' would start to deteriorate. You'd probably be best buying a budget suite!

you can buy enamel spray paint in the UK this used to be by plasticote i think (I may be wrong i used to work in DIYT and used to sell it but that was way back in 1998 when i left that profession, and have forgotten more than most people would ever know).
but provided you first sand the suite with a rough sand paper to give the paint a key to be able to stick (stay on) you should be ok.
ok assuming you have been to the DIY or hardware store depending on where you are located on this small planet of ours, and have the paint colour you need and if you are doing an entire suite then upto five cans may be required for best results.
1, unplumb dry and clean and dry thourely the items.
2, using a rough grade sand paper scuff all the items all over (everywhere you want the paint)
3, now wash and dry the items to get rid of the dust.
4, now to the correct technique for spray painting: first using just the motion of your wrist motion the can of spray paint left and right (on the first coat), complete the first coat and allow to dry, now using up and down wrist action slowly work your way over each item until you finish. finally allow to dry, finally apply a third coat again repeating as for the first coat left to right action.
allow to dry.
use very fine grained wet and dry paper to smooth down the finished work and your job should now be nearly done, re-plumb the items and enjoy.
after final sanding/ finishing you may need apply a further coat of paint, this is to your tast and or aesthetics.
and when i say dry above that should read almost dry tacky (between coats) if left to dry completely you may need to use a fine medium grade sand paper to key the surface so the paint will remain for many years to come.
while it is cheaper to buy a few cans of enamel spray pain (about £10 a can when i used to sell it) it may pay in time and money to buy a NEW suite in the long run especially if you have any doubts about your ability to do a good job. as a bad spray paint job can result in runs and the paint being thicker in places and alomost see through in others.
so buy a cheap can of any old spray paint and something to practice on before you actually start work on a major project like making over your bathroom suite.
good luck.

The4re is a product on the market, called ZINSSER Bullseye1-2-3. It is a primer, sealer, and stain-killer, that can be brushed on or painted on. It is about $20 a gallon,at Lowes, and very easy to use. Follow the instructions, and it is that simple. You just make sure the walls are clean, mask off what you don't want painted, and paint. Our house was built in 1947, and had yellow and blue ceramic tile...YUK! It took us about 2 days, and now we have a white and pale green color bath. It has been on for 2 years, with no sign of wear. I was looking at $10,000 to remodel. We spent less than $300, which was for paint, faucet, toilet, and new towels! Good luck to you, and Happy new year!

Budget suites are all very well if that is what you want.
Just redone our bathroom - cost a FORTUNE - but the £340 we spent on resurfacing our lovely 1970s iron bath from avocado to white was about the best bargain.
Do it - it is a lot cheaper than a half decent bath - and you can get a lovely finish. It really does look like new.
Will post links below, but look up "bath resurfacing" online and you will get loads of options.
