You can do squats. Find a chair and go to sit down, but when you're within an inch, stand up without touching the chair. Repeat until you can't do anymore, wait a minute, then do again (another set). Work up to three sets of 12 times. Then, you can do the same exercise, but without using a chair for guidance, and add weight through barbells or dumbells.

Leg press with little weight but alot of reps....this will build a nice long muscle that is toned without bulk.
