I used to have the same issue. I've depended on alcohol to help me relax and feel more comfortable, especially in social situations were i was always nervous. I decided to seek medical attention for the anxiety. I've recently began taking meds for anxiety...anti-anxiety meds. My anxiety was daily---Im normal and luv people etc. but I was always anxious and nervous. I now feel more calm and relaxed. Med's arent for everyone but I'd rather takes med's than be drinking everyday...

Cuz maybe to you, alcohol helps to relax you some. If this is the case and you are aware of it, instead of reaching for some alcohol when it gets bad, find something else to do instead to relax. Try yoga or some other kind of exercises, take a nice hot bubble bath, read a good book, well, really anything to help you relax.

Because we think that alcohol will help us cope - but it doesnt. It's a form of escape from the situation, so that it doesn't appear too bad. it may also be a form of 'Dutch courage' - we can feel braver with alcohol because it lowers inhibitions.
On a chemical level it acts as a depressant -this is despite people getting 'merry' with drink. so that also could mean that it lowers fear, it slows down our responses which is why driving is so dangerous after a drink..
hope this helps.

Alcohol dumbs the senses and makes you less anxious, but when it wears off you get more anxious. Don't use it as a cure to beat anxiety, being sober and facing what makes you anxious is the best way to beat it! Even if it freaks you out at first! Then you can start on the beer again!
There is no fear of the world, only fear of one's self and your demons!

when people get emotionally upset they go for something artificial to calm them because they cant do it themselves.i go to god with my problems and ask for his strength and help.i know that so many people go for pills and stimulants to get them through. deep inside they are going through a storm inside and dont know how to get out of it.i go to the rock of my salvation and ask for his help and he answers so quickly.there is a number to call and these people are kind and caring and are there 24 hours a day. the number is 1-330-929-5010

Your looking for something you think will take the edge off. If you have medicine you'll reach for that too. Hopefully, not at the same time.
