Don't give up. And learn to let go of failures and make the best of a situation that is less than optimal. Forgive whoever hurt you in the past and don't use the put downs to think that you cannot do this. Do not worry about being embarrassed because of the assignments missed. You need to be honest with your teacher and ask for help if needed. There are a lot of good teachers that really understand the difficulties that students may have. They might even be willing to have you turn them in late or give a chance in class for extra credit. But maybe not, it really depends a lot on the teacher. Make a very good assessment of your current grades, calculate them and figure what is the maximum you can make. You might want to drop some classes and focus on others. I do not know your situation exactly but sometimes you have to make adjustments. It is better to do good in a little than take on too much and not do good in any. Let go of a class if you have too. If you really take an honest look at how you are doing and think that you have missed some concepts and realize that you cannot catch up that may be time to cut your losses and try again the next semester. That is not quitting that is just being smart. Feelings come and go and as you get older you grow and may be better able to handle the school.
Most students have a big struggle and there are different issues for everyone that they know could cause them to fail. I went to school for civil engineering and graduated this past May, and I can tell you being smart enough wasn't what got any of my classmates through. It was willing to tough it out even when they knew they were not doing too good or were not even "smart" enough. One of my friends was married with two kids and had to work to support his family. He was exhausted all the time and still had to get through the classes. He did what he had to do. If you are willing to work hard you will learn.
If this is your first semester in college, you are not a mature student as someone who is a junior and senior class member. This will come as you grow and learn and learn your strengths and weaknesses and learn not to quit at the first sign of trouble.
God bless you.

Go back to school and speak with the instructors. Don't give up. You are not the first person to have had these problems. You need to take better care of yourself so that this doesn't happen again. If this is your "heart", you will find a way to make it work for you. Talking with a counselor at school will help you in your decisions. Good Luck!

You are perfectly normal. What you're feeling happens to a lot of students.
Talk to instructors about remedial work for the misses assignmet. Surely, they have seen it before.
Depression - it's better to see a professional counselor at school. They deal with stressed out students all the time. Stay on - they can help.
It's great that you can see what's going on and seek advice.
Don't beat yourself up and pat yourself on the back for recognizing what's going on.

if you found your passion never give up. make your health #1 because if your not healthy you can't work. ask for help from your teachers and take mental breaks. stay focused on the goal and analyse your choices. you might not accually be "depressed" if you can broadcast it on Yahoo answers but, hey!, I'm not you. stay focused, work hard, get some help, and stay proud. if you can finished this, other life problems won't seem so hard. I hope you finish and go on to have a fulfilling life.
