Ford Escort Mk 6 Dash Light and Rear lights not working.?

Question

Ive checked all the fuses, the earth connection and all the bulbs. It used to come on when you switch the lights on and off a few times. All the other lights work!

Cheers. how would i go about taking the column switch off. is it a fairly easy job or complicated.

Cheers Fixed it now. If u bend the switch abit it works. I then sprayed Electronic component cleaner in it and it works good as new. Cheers for al your help!

Hi there,
Common fault with these is the column switch, the switch you use to turn on the lights. The switch fails internally and the lights don't illuminate at rear or dash.

i mechanic for a living,and own a repair shop,these have a habit of burning out switch's,pretty bad,,usually like you said you could when you went on and off a few times,,but what has happened it one part of the switch has went out in it,,you can get a good used one at a junk yard or buy a new one,,junk yard will be a lot cheaper than a new one,,the choice is yours on this part of it,,but i usually have good luck from used ones,,but that's whats causing this to happen,,good luck hope this help,s.happy new years.

disconnect battery then remove the steering colum cover then remove light stork because that is gone in your car.you can buy one from the autospares shop in your area.easy to replace
