Get a solicitor, then he/she can request the video. They have to give it to you. If found guilty, it's an automatic 1 year ban, plus probably a fine and court costs. You WILL NOT get a custodial sentence.

The police if the car has video eqipment dont have to show you at the scene.
The worse case scenario is, you get found guily at court for dangerous driving, this will almost certainly get you a ban from driving and under current law you will then have to re-apply for your driving licence when the ban ends, when you get it back it will be a provisional ! you then have to take an extended driving test to get you licence back.
While you have a provisional licence after a ban your will be "Disqualified until test passed" this simply means that you can take lessons, if you need them, and must display L plates and be accompanied every time you drive, if you dont you will effectivley be disqualified and liable to arrest and/or imprisonment. (Not good)
Speak to a good solicitor who specialises in driving matters, the chances are if the police have a video it will have been from a traffic police officer, these are regarded in court pretty well by the judges when it comes to driving offences.
If you know you were driving a bit daft and think there is a case against you, ask your solicitor to see if the cps will accept a guilty plea on driving without due care, its not great, you'll get points and a fine at least, but you wont have to retake a driving test.
Good luck

The above answer is wildly incorrect, which shows the danger of asking people questions of a specialist nature on sites such as these.
You MUST instruct a solicitor.
There is a very real chance that your case will be committed to the Crown Court for trial or sentence. The offence is "either-way" and there is a real possibility that you will receive a prison sentence if convicted. You will be disqualified from driving for a minimum period of twelve months if convicted.
You may be eligible for legal aid, depending on your financial circumstances, but you MUST instruct a lawyer immediately.
You need a specialist criminal lawyer. If you do not know any, go to your local court and ask around. Its a fair bet that the one with the most cases is OK. I always suggest you go up to a policeman and ask him "If you were accused of a criminal offence, which solicitor would you use?". You are then guaranteed to get the best .... seriously!

A driving ban is almost certain, along with a fine which will take account of your income and savings.
Custodial sentence is a possibility, or community service.
Depending upon the circumstances if the magistrates refer the case to crown court the sentencing will probably be heavier.
Get a solicitor as soon as possible, you may be eligible for legal aid if a custodial sentence is likely.
Cannot stress how important it is to get a solicitor ASAP, most will provide 14 - 30 minutes free consultation.

It states in my DRIVER LICENSING INFORMATION BOOKLET-UNDER "ENDORSEMENT OFFENCE CODES-that: Dangerous Driving (code40) is 3-11 points,,,-- Dangerous Driving (code60) is 3-11 points ,,,-- Dangerous Driving(code80) is also 3-11 points. I sincerely hope they lock you up and throw away the key-it is a total waste of a Driving Licence-(which is a privilege-and not a right, as so many idiots like you obviously think it is)-and finally, you are a menace on the road, stick to a bicycle with stabilisers when you get out of nick.

A custodial sentence. They (the courts) don't take things like dangerous driving lightly and often use sentencing to make an example of you. At the end of the day you should be thanking your lucky stars that you didn't seriously injure or kill anyone (or yourself for that matter!) and with that in mind I would be grateful for whatever sentence you get given. You would rather have time inside behind you than knowing you killed someone on your conscience for the rest of your life.

a police officer does not have to show you the tape. if he says they have tape believe me, they have the tape. it depends on what you did. were you being pursued? or were you doing circles in a parking lot. you will most likely get a fine. no jail time for traffic violation beside driving while suspended or revoked. if you were an *** hose you probably got arrested....lol police have what is called discretionary powers. because they can do something does not mean they have to do something.

Contact a solicitor, I think he can request a copy of the evidence,
You should expect a custodial sentence of about 3 months and a ban for 3 years.

Sorry to tell you this but a conviction for dangerous driving carries an automatic ban, you'll be very lucky to not get one.
Good luck.

I love Rick Wenham... he's the best darn traffic officer the Met has!!!!
(I don't love him in any kind of adulterous way, I just mean his answers take me back to Hendon when I actually knew the rules as well as he does!)
Listen to Rick... whatever answer he gives is spot on!
