Agnostics seem to be more open minded to me than atheist, they have enough sense to know they have no idea what's going on.

I'm not Agnostic, I'm a Baptist Christian but my boyfriend is Agnostic for other reasons. He beleives in God but does not want to be limited to one set of idealistic beleifs about what happened. On a personal note, I'm not sure the "It's a cool thing to do" even applies. Religion isn't a phase that you change all the time as fashion is and most younger people don't know the difference between Agnostic and Atheist, therefor they get them mixed up all the time.

I am an agnostic theist - and that proves I know the difference between agnosticism and atheism. An atheist does not believe in the existence of any deity (to various degrees of strength), and an agnostic is someone who believes there is no way to absolutely prove whether any deity does or does not exist.

I believe in many deities, but I know I have no way to prove it, nor does anyone have any way to prove that they don't exist. This is what makes me an agnostic theist.

It is also possible to be an agnostic atheist.

I call myself Agnostic. I KNOW the difference between Agnosticism and Atheism. I classify myself as Agnostic because I believe the existence of God IS unprovable, but I also lean toward Atheism. Based on what I see in this world, and how I view this world, I think more and more everyday, that maybe a God does not exist.

#1 for me... I am married to an Athiest so I don't think I am ashamed of him. I get criticized for being agnostic so its not that. My parents weren't religious so its not that either. If "God" sat down next to me and we could have a nice long talk then yes I would say there is truelly a God but that doesn't mean that I would follow a religion. I like knowing that I am in charge of my future.

#1...and why would anyone be ashamed to be associated with atheists?
The atheists I'm friends with are some of the best people I have the pleasure of knowing. and they're the reason I'm agnostic...

i'm agnostic because i can't prove or disprove the existence of a higher being either way and it has nothing to do with wanting to be with the so called "in crowd" as i'm past that point in my life anyway a person can be agnostic atheist which means they believe a god might not exist but can't prove for sure that it doesn't unlike atheists who believe that they can prove that a higher being doesn't exist a person could be agnostic theist which means they believe in a higher being but unlike a theist they can't prove it for sure

I call myself an agnostic atheist

"A person can believe in a god (theism) without claiming to know for sure if that god exists; the result is agnostic theism. On the other hand, a person can disbelieve in gods (atheism) without claiming to know for sure that no gods can or do exist; the result is agnostic atheism."

Agnostic means you don't know what to believe so you think it's safe to take the middle ground. When you chose not to decide you still have made a choice.
