I've been having intense, throbbing pain in my head for about 3 weeks now (I can actually hear the pulsating noise in my head and it doesnt EVER stop). I got tests done to rule out a brain aneurysm/tumor...tests came back fine. Doctor diagnosed migraines last week and have been on narcotics/other meds since, which help a little...mostly knock me out.I can't seem to figure out how these developed and what I'm supposed to do.The only thing I think it may be caused by is I just started going to a chiropractor and the pain started shortly after. I didn't realise it at first, but after a few times of having my neck cracked my migraines kicked in full force. Can a chiropractor cause this? I'm also going to neurologist next week to get checked out. If anyone has dealt with this or has any advise as to what could help,I would really appreciate it.

yes, i have suffered with them for years. i've tried almost every preventative out there and nothing has worked. topamax does work for some people and seems to be the most promising. imitrex and zomig nasal spray are both very good once you have a headache, but they make you sleepy. i've found relpax to have the least amount of side effects and to be the most effective. working with a neurologist is key though. good luck to you.

Could be TMJ..it seems TMJ is also related to you neck and back. If you have it, it throws everything out of wack. Narcotics are the only thing that helps with my head aches (TMJ) but since tolerance is inevitable you will only get some relief from the meds in the long run. Its not sensible to keep uping your dose continualy for even in a long period of time. Stay the hell away from Chiros!!! they only make things worse yet you keep going back because it is almost an addiction. When they crack your bones that releases endorphines and chemicals that work on your reward system in your brain. Pleasure chemicals. I would stick with the narcotics which the side effects will start to go away although with that comes tolerance so you will always have to bear some pain. If taken correctly as prescribed they are not addictive like most people seems to think. You have a long road ahead of you!!! Again this could be TMJ since you explained the problems with your neck that makes sense. Do yo grind your teeth alot or have you had any dental procedures done recently?

Ask about Inderal or Topomax. I've tried Imitrex used at the onset but prefer the preventive maintenance drugs.

My mother has been compaining about migraines for a while. She took some Excedrin and felt much better, just buy any pain killer with acetomiphen (I think) and caffeine.

The migraines ARE related to your Chiropractor's "manipulations". Put two and two together and there you are. Good health and good luck.
