I'm looking for the best prices to get to Greece - on the major sites I found round trips for about $650/person and this was confirmed on http://www.utopia.worldventures.com . Bargaintravel listed prices at about $500, which obviously is better, but is the good deal and unsecured website simply a ruse for a scam or is the service legit? i can't find a phone number on the site to call anyone so hopefully someone who has used them can provide useful insight. thanks in advance.

Bargaintravel.com did have a phone number buried on the site so I will try that tomorrow. What makes me the most hesitant about this site is the various spelling mistakes that appear periodically. It may or may not be secure since IE7 has apparently moved the "lock" somewhere other than the bottom of the screen. For a site that advertises to be around since 2001, there is little I have been able to find on it, hence turning to this site as an additional search resource.

The first answer provides good general internet advice for novices (that is, be wary of some e-commerce sites), but it doesn't answer the question. To be more specific, I am looking for some testimonials from people who have used the bargaintravel.com service, recent and independent news references about it, its fare link "farebuzz.com" or its parent company Netporium LLC. Whether I give such testimonials any weight is discretionary, but at least it will indicate whether the company is what it purports to be.

November,
I'm Marc Harris, one of the partners at Bargaintravel.com, I understand your concern but I must point out that our site is indeed secure. When you look for your flights and then are ready to book, you are on a secure server.

We have been selling consolidator tickets since 2001 but in fact have been in business as an on line travel agency since 1996. This can be verified through www.betterwhois.com or any other such agency.

Also, if you go to Google and search for "International Flights" you will find us in one of the top positions as we have been for many years. Google would have de-listed us long ago if we were a scam.

If you email me at marc at bargaintravel.com I will forward to you my direct phone number to answer any other questions you might have.

Finally, I am unaware of any typos on our site, but since there are over 1,400 pages, that is possible, perhaps these were in the forums? If you could direct me to them I will correct them asap.

I hope this helps, but I do understand that we are a small fish compared to the big guys, however, our prices usually are better then their prices.

Please let me know if you have any other questions, Thank you,
Marc

I have never used them before. I would check into this company before giving them my money. I reckon it culd be a scam. There have been some travel deals that I heard about on the news that actually ended up being scams, so be careful who you book with.
