No contradiction in Genesis 1 and 2
Genesis 1
- Day one - heavens and earth are created. "Let there be light." Day and Night.
- Day two - Atmospheric waters separated from earth waters.
- Day three - Land appears separating the seas. Vegetation is made.
- Day four - Sun, moon, stars are made.
- Day five - Sea life and birds are made.
- Day six - Land animals, creeping things, and man (male and female) are made.
Genesis 2
States heaven and earth were created. no plant yet on earth, no rain yet, no man. but, a mist rose watering the surface of the ground. Then the Lord formed man from dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life. Then God made Eve.
There is no contradiction between Genesis 1 and 2. Genesis 1 is a detailed explanation of the six days of creation, day by day. Genesis two is a recap and a more detailed explanation of the sixth day, the day that Adam and Eve were made. The recap is stated in Gen. 2:4, "This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made earth and heaven." Then, Moses goes on to detail the creation of Adam and Eve as is seen in verses 7 thru 24 of Gen. 2. Proof that it is not a creative account is found in the fact that animals aren't even mentioned until after the creation of Adam. Why? Probably because their purpose was designated by Adam. They didn't need to be mentioned until after Adam was created.
Hope this is of any help.

You need better objectivity there, "sol" !!! Read it in the Hebrew translation there, guy. It loses a lot from its translation from the original Hebrew into "English" translations. God did not tell it all, detail by detail, just gave a brief synopsis ... that's why it "jumps" around a bit. For an example; You read, " In the beginning , God ..." this can be read, "In a beginning, God ..." [Original Hebrew]. The earth at this time was a RE-creation of the earth's SURFACE ( that's why the Spirit of God moved upon the water, upon the face of the earth ... it was already in existence) !!! Most people, who ATTEMPT to undermine the credibility of the Holy Bible fail to firstly, get ALL the FACTS ! True science and true religion support one another 100% ... NO contradictions ... only contradictory people !!!

I don't find the two accounts of creation contradictory. But I understand your concern.
Anything that comes from a perfect God, would seem like it should be perfect.
My only answer is that it seems God chose to use imperfect people to transmit his thoughts.
There is a good side to this. Since the bible does not claim to be written directly by God, it is open to interpretation, and all modern scholars have their perspectives on what is being said.
I think if you can spend some time reading the words of Jesus in the four gospels, you will find there are still a lot of thoughts that haven't been explained fully, and are still open for meditation and discussion.

I suggest you take a closer look, and make sure you consider the original Greek and Hebrew text. I find no errors and I am open to seeing them.
The Bible has an amazing sense of continuety when you look at it as a whole. The new testament fullfills the prophecy in the old testament. The Birth and life of Jesus was prophisied in more than 40 ways, ALL of them were fulfilled. It is impossible to have fulfilled them all, especially since some of them made no sense at the time but upon looking back the light suddenly went on.
You can be an intellectual and still study the bible completely. I think you would find it fascinating.

If by inerrant you mean "without error" then the Bible does not fit this category. The Bible is the inspired word of God written by Man, not by God. It is inspired in the sense that the authors wrote of their experiences in coming to know God.
When Michael Angelo was inspired to paint the Last Supper, he forgot to include the woman and children and thus many people believe the woman and children were not there.
His intent was not to insult the woman and children but to focus the attention on Christ and the apostles.
So too in the Bible. It is not a history or a science or a Biology Book. It is a book of faith told orally for many years before being written down. It contains myths, poetry, laws, wisdom etc. of a people who lived thousands of years ago. The facts may be incorrect in our world where we have tape recorders and demand accuracy. But the spiritual truth can not be denied. That is why we call it the "Living Word', unlike the dead words of history books.

Do I ever agree with Jennifer above.
I do not know how O.T. in 1110 and done 433 before Christ and Now at 2007th year, after him we have only had it at 396th year, as N.T. done 50 to 100 after Christ and we are speaking of age here on a book that very few people have any respect for.
God had to get it to us and despite a few errors that an intelligent person can see, he is totally untelligent not to consider all this book has been through and what a nice shape it is in after all. By 2 or 3 witnesses, to get it right is right.

There are no errors in the bible because God canot lie
Tit 1:2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;
2Pe 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
2Pe 1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
I urge you to pray & study in context, as God will reveal His truth to you !!

The Bible have been modified before.
And the main contradiction before what you are saying, how a man"Jesus" who eats food and walk in the market be a God?
How a man whom his God gives him the holly book, then this man says worship me besides your God?
And how this universe be controlled by not only one God?
How a God have a son?
God"Allah" the almighty
