There is a big difference between changing the script of a movie based on a part of the Bible, and changing the Bible itself. The Bible is always right. What man decides about what he accepts or rejects does not change the truths in the Bible. The truths in the Bible speak for themselves. Man, whether Jewish, Gentile, or athiestic, ---man does not want to feel accountable for their sin. They do not want to take the blame. They do not want to suffer the consequences. But God remains God. God does not change. The Bible does not change either. Man may try to alter it by coming up with various translations.... or interpretations or paraphrases, or by omitting parts that make them feel guilty....but that does not change what the Bible is or says. The Passion of the Christ is not the Bible. It is just a movie... however well done. We have to be careful that we do not replace the actual Bible for movies and others things that are more entertaining.

There's not exactly a special group dedicated to deciding what's in the Bible. Different sects of Christianity have different Bibles, and the translations can sometimes vary quite a lot. Mel Gibson certainly does not have the kind of sway that would allow him to determine what's in the Bible.
I don't see why it's such a problem if the Bible changes, or it has some errors. Guys, who said that it was a history text? The stories are supposed to provide spiritual comfort and instruction. Does it really matter if there really was a Good Samaritan? Or if two texts have two different versions of that story? If it gets the idea out that outcasts who do good deeds are better than respected community members who ignore the helpless, then where's the problem?

Mel Gibson's movie is just that a movie. It has nothing to do with what the Bible is or really says. The true bible, the KJV is the uncorrupted word of God. See Rev. 22:19 ( And if any man shall take away from the words ...) People will be punished for taking things away from or adding to the Bible. Stick with the KJV and you will be fine.

I study under a Pastor who translates from the original languages. The Bible is the mind of Christ. It does not change. Mel Gibson is Hollywood. The movie was for entertainment only. I worship the Jews King. Just because they did not accept their Savior does not mean that he is not the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Peace out.

Sure, people do all the time
Different versions, different interprestations, etc.
Some religions don't even have a book and they do fine. Jesus' early followers didn't have a bible, they based their religion on Jesus' example and teachings. Modern Christians can do the same, and dispense with all the inconsistencies and contraditctions in the bible. This would probably make for better Christians and a better world.

me: It is totally irrelevant what the Bible states and what the movie editors made Gibson remove from the script. It all boils down to the movie producers not wanting to offend others ... not the validity of the Bible. Is this [grads], what the colleges and universities are "pumping" out ? !!!

Um... until Christians have mastered the basic tenets of the faith, as in the very basics of what Christ expects of followers, such as not being judgmental, caring for ALL human beings, they're sure as heck not going to get much else right... everything else is just means by which to gain some form of self-serving agenda (i.e. followers, money, popularity, political control, etc.)
