What is the different between airline and airways? For example: United Airlines, British Airways, US Airways, Japan Airlines etc.

It is an marketing ploy. Airlines sounds more strict and formal. Airways sounds the company has more choices for its passengers.

No difference - it's just a name! You can start an airline regardless as to whether it is cargo, or passenger or both and regardless as to what equipment you're using i.e. a crop duster or an A380...... and call it either sel_bos Airlines or sel_bos Airways or sel_bos Air or just sel_bos. It has nothing to do with nothing.

It is just the name . there is no technical difference in them. They choose it as per their suitability.
