Leading thinkers say that people's fascination for religion and superstition will disappear within a few decades as television and the internet make it easier to get information, and scientists get closer to discovering a final theory of everything.

The web magazine Edge (www.edge.org) asked more than 150 scientists and intellectuals: "What are you optimistic about?" Answers included hope for the end of organised religion and growth of enlightenment.

As a born again christian I am deeply saddened by this vision of the future.

If I were to not have my religion any longer, I would not be able to go to church, pray or hate gays and moslems. Thus my life would have no meaning any longer.

Who else thinks this future trend will leave them in a bad way?

This is it folks, the end is near. For when we reach that point the antichrist will be in full power. A World without God will be a world in full submission to powers of darkness. Just look at the numbers of anti christs there are on this site as we speak.
And as a Christian I am looking forward to bieng caught up into the clouds before we have to endure the worst of it. I also am committed to show myself approved to Christ by living an example to others and if anyone should ask, I will happily tell them the Good News that there is a hope and a future to them that believe and live according to His purpose.

Have faith in God. I serve a God capable of turning "Leading Thinkers" and "150 Scientists and Intellects" into fools. God is in control. Never doubt it. The future belongs to God, not man. Hating gays and moslems is not God's way. Brother, you are in the wrong religion or going to the wrong church.

If God is for us, who can be against us? Do not fear!

lol, aren't you tricky; throwing that hating gays and Muslems thing in there. Obviously, you throw all Christians in the same basket. What a shame.

Jesus Christ's Kingdom has no end, so I don't worry about this as a born again. However, if it came down to a choice between denying Christ and dying, I would choose Christ. I'm not afraid to die, only of living without Him.

haha!!! dont be saddened my brother. All science has managed to do is create an illusion that reap bi-products that slowly dissolve the earth and it's resouces. If anything, as things get worse and the end draws closer, so will our devotion to our Father. their hopes and endeavors at ending religion will strengthen it.

pray or hate gays and mulsims? christ, I thought you were being serious about the issues. punk!

I totally disagree with you and this philosophy.

First of all, if you are a truly "Born-again Christian," then you know that Jesus did not preach "religion" (a blind acceptance of tradition and thoughtless obedience to ritual observances), but a personal relationship with the Father, Himself, through the Son.
Don't mistake going to church and trite prayers as a relationship with God. Believers ARE the Church! (Also, read up on the Sadducees and the Pharisees, whom Jesus called "hypocrites," etc.)

Secondly, "Pastor" Sauce, if you "hate" any man (including homosexuals and MUSLIMS), then you are a murderer and a liar, and there is no eternal life in you. (1 John 3:15)

Jesus said, in Matthew 5:44, "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;"

He also said in a parable, "... Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me" (Matthew 25:40), and "He that hateth Me hateth My Father also" (John 15:23).

Therefore, if you hate your brother (or your enemy for that matter), then you also hate Jesus; and if you hate Jesus, then you hate God as well.

HATE ENEMY = HATE JESUS
HATE JESUS = HATE GOD
Therefore, HATE ENEMY = HATE GOD

The "enlightenment" you speak of is the encouragement of free-thinking and the release from religious constraints that hinder people's ability to freely worship.

I'll pray for you, because as a "Pastor," you will receive the "greater condemnation" for the doctrines you teach; and I'll warn you just like Jesus did so many milennia ago: "Repent: for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand."

GOD Bless!

Your question displays none of the virtues or repentance of a true born again Christian. I will pray for you Pastor Sauce. By the way it's Muslims.

Sounds like hog wash. Christ is science. If you hate anyone you should use 1John1:9" If we name our sins he is just and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness".
When you judge someone they get a blessing and you get the discipline. Is that what you want? The discipline for someone Else's sin?
I sure don't. Keep short accounts with God.
Peace out.

First of all, I doubt with the way you are speaking that you're a born again Christian.

Secondly, the opinions of men mean little to me; heaven and earth will pass away, but the word of God is forever. As long as there is time, Christ, His kingdom, and those who know Him, will always be.

first you are not christian and have no idea what born again means if you did you could not hate any one you would know you are a sinner as bad as any other and but for the blood of christ you will be going to hell. I will pray for you you seem to be trying to give christians a bad name

first - no matter what scientist come up with, they will never convince me that there is no heaven and hell.
second- no one can convince me that god isn't real.
even if scientist come up with some new info, gods word will live on forever and ever. those who don't believe will perish. if you are talking about not havin your religion any more is sounds like you don't believe in god anyway. and good chrisitans don't hate others for their choices. excpeciall b/c of there race/religion/choice of dating.
it sounds like you are insecure about what you believe.
i'll be praying for you.
