I used to work for an Optometrist and she told me Hot-warm , moist compresses. Its a duct that is clogged with sebum. The moist heat gets the sebum soft to re-circulate and unclog. She said wrap a hot potato in a wet wash cloth and put it on the eye. The potato keeps hot longer.

This sounds like it could be very dangerous as well as painful and probably contagious. I'm not saying she doesnot know what she is doing but baby shampoo is irritating. Does'nt it say that you should be careful and rinse the eye if you get the shampoo in it. Although baby shampoo is quite gentle. Unfortunately, the prescription may not be the one that he needs for this condition. I personally would go to the emergency room if it is very painful and he cannot wait and it sounds like he is in pure agony. A trip to an eye specialist is called for. Sometimes it is difficult to get an appoitment right away but under the circumstances they would probably see him as soon as he could get into the office. Tell him to keep his hands washed and try not to touch it if at all possible. I certainly hope he feels better soon. I can only examine the pain he is going through.

Hot compresses...

Get a washcloth as hot as he can stand in hot water... wring it out and hold it on there. Do this several times day.
