My priest is not a babysitter. That's not in his job description. However, I would absolutely trust my local parish priest with children. He is a good man, like most priests, and has never once been accused of wrongdoing. Don't believe everything you read in the tabloids.
I spent a great deal of time surrounded by priests, nuns, monks and Church officials as a child, and attended Catholic school. Guess what? Nothing happened (except that I actually got a decent education).

Not that I have a five-year-old at this time (my son's 25), but if I did, I'd trust my priest in a heartbeat. He's a family man with kids of his own.

Absolutely; it is much safer than leaving them with a teacher!
